"I watched the X-Files, like three whole episodes, and its a bad show."

To be fair - the first season takes a bit to get going, and its also a show that I think would be hard to get into outside of the original context. #TheBigSick #HATM

The 9/11 joke is an interesting historical reference - this is roughly 2005, so that is going to be way more of a thing than in 2017. There's also that element of "can we joke about it yet" that persisted well beyond, though the ISIS reference places this in 2015-ish. #TheBigSick #HATM

So his one man show was about Pakistan and cricket...

What two topics would your one-person show be about?

For an update on where this couple is, I recommend Kumail's stand-up special on Hulu Night Thoughts.
The lead-up here is that they were getting work done on their house & caught on their security camera a couple sneaking into their pool w/ a cheese board + knife

Not sure how that will hold up in court my love. Watch #NightThoughts on @hulu

The Big Sick was an awards contender for the 2017, for its ensemble, Holly Hunter's performance, and the script, which netted Oscar nomination for Original Screenplay, which it lost to an all-timer. Fun note: we've now done 3 of the 5 Best Original Screenplays for that year! #TheBigSick #HATM

The Big Sick was a surprise hit on its $5 million budget, counterpointing a summer heavy in superheroes (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Wonder Woman, Despicable Me 3), landing at $56.4 globally. It's first wide release week (where it landed in 5th) was actually its fourth overall. #TheBigSick #HATM

These dudes think this is so clever.

Beyond the difference in harms that accompanies the age limits for booze and voting, there were 26,000+ arrests of minors for liquor law violations in 2019. It’s a relatively common crime.

There are functionally no arrests each year for in-person voter fraud.
Rep. Brian Steil: "I flew home to my home state of Wisconsin, went to buy a 6 pack a beer, the clerk asked for my ID, confirmed it, and then I was allowed to buy the beer. I just think it's nuts that we protect our beer more than our ballots."

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.
