I treat boycotts as personal blood vendettas. This is about me physically harming a corporation, not about me telling any other human how to live their life.

I don’t have time to judge others while I’m digging two graves for me and Target.
As I always do with boycotts, I urge: be tough with corporations, gentle with individual buyers. For some people, Black Friday sales are the way they get their kids jackets that fit, shoes that hold up to the weather. Yelling at them doesn’t help the cause.

🧵Spotted From a Cafe in Aotearoa New Zealand:

Two men (20s? Brothers?) are tucking into hearty breakfasts.
One says to the other: "Did I tell ya I'm thinkin' of gettin' married."
The other looks aghast: "Why?!"
"Why not?"
"Cos Aunt Belinda's gonna come!"
A long contemplative silence ensues. (1)

As with Killers of the Flower Moon and the Watchmen miniseries, this proves the power of film for bringing attention to forgotten bits of history. I didn't know much about the Black Panthers before but learned a lot, and its good to these things from time to time. #JudasAndTheBlackMessiah #HATM

Guess Who's Coming To Dinner came out two years before this takes place (1967) poking fun at the absurdity of these conversations, and yet here we are. #JudasAndTheBlackMessiah #HATM

The fear of moles, while not unfounded, is one of the things that breaks up the movement over the years - Alex Rackley was never comfirmed as an FBI informant, and there were other intra-Party killings that were more the result of interpersonal conflicts. #JudasAndTheBlackMessiah #HATM

As in The Matrix, the steak is emblematic of the corruptibility of man in pursuit of simple earthly pleasures (that particular Judas fails to kill that Messiah, however). #JudasAndTheBlackMessiah #HATM

This is a rare film with no lead actor: LaKeith Stanfield and Daniel Kaluuya (who won) were both nominated for Best Supporting Actor, probably due to Oscar voters splitting the vote on the shortlist ballots: variety.com/2021/awards/...

Why Lakeith Stanfield Was Nominated in Supporting and Not Lead for ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’ (Opinion)
Lakeith Stanfield was surprisingly nominated in best supporting actor for "Judas and the Black Messiah" despite a lead campaign. Here's why.

Judas and the Black Messiah scored six Oscar nominations: Best Picture (lost to Nomadland), Original Screenplay (Promising Young Woman), Cinematography (Mank), winning Song ("Fight For Her") and Best Supporting Actor (Daniel Kaluuya, who beat LaKeith Stanfield). #JudasAndTheBlackMessiah #HATM

Judas and the Black Messiah was a victim of COVID, pushed from an August 2020 release to February 2021, when it opened in second against Croods 2. It managed $7.5 million against a $26 million budget, almost exactly one year after COVID broke out. #JudasAndTheBlackMessiah #HATM
