"Residents in walkable neighbourhoods should be able to hold them (and us) to account" but they can't because the ward system means their Councillors are always out voted by councillors from #Autowa residents.
The City has significantly improved its sidewalk snow clearing in recent years, but cost pressures mean they won't codify the change. Residents in walkable neighbourhoods should be able to hold them (and us) to account for something better than 2003 standards.

We are definitely "a city of slow learners" as we keep pouring $$ into the money pit of #Lansdowne expecting magically it will work. #OttCity
The funny part is just how many people think they just drive over to Lansdowne and magically find parking there when there's multiple events on. We're a city of slow learners apparently.

Every year on the day of the budget vote the Mayor and all #OttCity Councillors should be required to take transit to work. Then we would see some serious budget changes.
Imagine if #OttCity mayor used transit all the time; even to get to rural and suburban photo op’s. I can think of a handful of councillors who take part in transit challenge or use it regularly; this should be the norm (along w/active transportation).

Ottawa just voted 15–10 for Lansdowne 2.0, a “revitalization” that saddles taxpayers with decades of debt so OSEG can call it partnership.

The city gets the bill, OSEG gets the benefit.
A ridiculous decision that will define Ottawa’s future for generations. Shame on council.

“Ottawa has an opportunity to lead, not follow. The team is thriving. The fan base is real. The moment is now.”

Absolutely: the city can lead or cave to the profit driven plan (profit that may never appear) to spend more and get less. It’s on council to set the path and our future.
Lansdowne 2.0 doesn’t give Ottawa what it needs. The plan is built around the limits of a public-private deal that leaves the city with hundreds of millions in new debt for a project that won’t serve residents well.

A quick summary of what we are going to lose with Lansdowne 2.0
October 26, 2025 at 2:38 PM
Lansdowne 2.0 will fail for the same reasons Lansdowne 1.0, Frank Clair Stadium & the Civic Centre failed. The venues are in a residential area bordered by a World Heritage Cite with access only by 3 streets. All 3 cannot be expanded to accommodate the traffic necessary to make the venues viable.
Lansdowne 2.0 is a key city-building project with major benefits for our community.
