Petulant president. He even has a portrait of Ronald Reagan in his office. Truth hurts.

We have sent out a letter to the premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, opposing his plan to remove speed cameras, which have been shown to overwhelmingly increase safety on our roads.

Thanks @hansonthebike.bsky.social for putting the letter together, and @pbickerton.bsky.social for the great graphics!

Some good polling & analysis on the speed camera issue. A majority of Ontarians support speed cameras, although a majority PC voters do not. PC voters support speed cameras near schools at a much higher number however. press.liaisonstrategies.ca/ontario-pcs-... #topoli #onpoli #onted

The Ford government has dropped another big bill: Fighting Delays, Building Faster. This one would prohibit removing vehicle lanes to build bike lanes, initiate a review of the building code, propose standardized Offical Plans and more. news.ontario.ca/en/release/1...

It's just as true now as it was 70 years ago.
It's a goal of mine to help make this the most famous, well-known and UNDERSTOOD quote about cities in history. Please share it as much as you can.

Ford just put every renter in Ontario into an even more precarious position. This is a clear and present danger to the 1.7 million renters in Ontario.
In particular, they want leases to no longer necessarily remain in effect indefinitely, so that landlords have more options for creating tenant turnover.

Proposed changes from the Ontario government would drastically reduce protection for tenants.

This is appalling and would put some folks in serious danger in this era of very low vacancy, skyrocketing rental rates, and rent decontrol.

Nearly 40% of Ottawa residents are renters.

My comments on Lansdowne 2.0

The total cost, the so called ‘cost of doing nothing’, the engineer reports on building conditions, and the alternative are all discussed. www.betterlansdowne.ca/more_info?ac...

And in my conversation with the rep from PWHL Charge, their customer base isn't the "standing room only" crowd that you might find at an Ottawa 67's game. The vibe at Charge games is families with kids, big groups, people soaking in the community feeling of being there together. 5/

The downsizing from 8,600 to 5,500 has already been heavily criticized due to its impact on revenues and fan experience for the hugely popular PWHL Charge. For the City to promote "6,600 capacity for hockey" without clarification feels like a deliberate attempt to deflect a critical concern. 4/

This week I spoke with representatives of the PWHL Charge who clarified that the newly described capacity of 6,600 includes "standing room only". The Event Centre will still only have 5,500 seats. But this distinction is nowhere to be found in the staff report. 3/
