10 months later, it looks like Bluesky is suddenly gaining a lot of traction. On the grounds, I hope to contribute some more Ottawa and bikes based content. Hello Everyone!
The William Commanda Bridge was still open at 6pm for those who are wondering. There were a few sets of xcski tracks across. #ottbike

Followup: conditions were generally pretty good. A bit of ice on the side streets, but everything else was in good shape. (*except where Minto Place's maintenance crew filled the Laurier Bike Lane with snow)
Looks about time to put the winter tires on the #ottbike.

Honestly, one of the things I like most about this story is not that he's a fifteen year-old with a sense of style, but that he decided to let the mystery linger, turned his Insta private, and waited, rather than immediately trying to cash in and get sponsorships and a reality series by week's end.
Fedora man unmasked: Meet the teen behind the Louvre mystery photo
When 15-year-old Pedro Elias Garzon Delvaux realized an Associated Press photo of him at the Louvre on the day of the crown jewels heist had drawn millions of views, his first instinct was not to rush...

Today's race was a good one weather-wise - the totally sketchy combo of mud and snow made for some wild corners. (Pic credit: Kiera FitzGerald) #ottbike

Ontario property assessments haven't been done since 2016 and it's getting ridiculous. Suburban homes are paying much lower property taxes than they should be.

Modern vehicles headlights have made cycling on many road-side multi-use pathways down right dangerous.

For the record for anyone #ottawa people listening to the Lansdowne 2.0 debate about the Ontario Building Code 2012 vs 2025. Accessible doors are slightly narrower in the 2025 Code (850mm clear vs 860 clear previously). This change brought the OBC into alignment with National Building Code.

Attention design teams! Help us turn this parking lot into a new urban park. The City of Toronto has launched an international design competition for a new park in Liberty Village. Details at tinyurl.com/5xzrwh6p

Parking in a 'No Parking' zone is okay as long as your half on the sidewalk, right?

This is the main reason why Ottawa needs bike share (and cyclocross racing back in the city).
We had so much fun watching everyone race at the Christie Cross. There was even a race on Toronto's Bike Share bikes! AWESOME event presented by @thebikinglawyer.bsky.social Thanks for the great day! #BikeTO

Fine late fall morning for an #ottbike ride up to the Fire Tower.

Really had to watch for the rocks in some of the more leaf covered areas, but the curly bars and chubby tires were still the perfect setup.

Drives me nuts (sorry, bad pun) that these articles always leave out one of the biggest sources of traffic congestion: Bad Driving.

A significant portion of delays are caused by preventable collisions. Drivers (as a group) need to shoulder the blame.

The federal government is firing back at Stellantis and General Motors by limiting the number of tariff-free vehicles the automakers can import from the U.S. to sell in Canada.

Canada's response, if Stellantis moves production, should be to end the practice of allowing automakers to purchase fuel economy credits to meet fleet fuel economy thresholds.

This is a good time for a reminder that the most dangerous residential building type in Canada with respect to fire deaths is one and two family homes. Not apartment buildings. And certainly not sprinklered apartment buildings like the one proposed here.
After TO Council passed a motion indicating the City was open to Alternative Solution Proposals for a single stair in apts up to 4 storeys, I applied for a single stair in a 3 storey Part 9 6plex.

I’m told it’s the first one, so it’s a test case. Here’s how it’s going.

Time for Canada to align with European standards. We can't get dragged down with the US.
Sean Duffy: "We are gonna save billions of dollars by getting rid of the fuel economy standards that are set way too high, that no combustion engine can meet, costing each car to the tune of thousands of dollars for the end consumer. We're in the process of getting rid of those rules."

City of Ottawa failed to understand this. And that is why we have no bikeshare.
“You have to put the bikes in places to create the demand,” McDonald said. “If it’s not there, no one’s ever going to use it.”
It’s about inducing people to take up biking, he explained, adding, “what we’ve found is when we put (docks) in those locations, we do start to see increased demand.”
