NYT EDITORIAL BOARD:

“.. When the government kills, it has an obligation to demonstrate that it has acted in the public interest. Instead, the Trump administration is once again engaged in a perversion of justice.”

Literally EVERYTHING else aside:

Officers involved in shootings - even shootings that everybody agrees were justified - always take time off to emotionally process their experience, go to therapy, process it.

Sending somebody right back out says "this is an everyday part of your job, expect it."
CBP chief Bovino has confirmed that the officers who executed Alex Pretti in the street yesterday are not only *not on administrative leave,* they have all been reassigned to other jurisdictions and are all on the street today.

This is totally unheard of for any officer-involved shooting

On the weakness of state terror: once ppl internalize the regime's lawless brutality, that they are no safer in their homes than in the streets (& vice versa), and that their unwavering defiance is what confounds & disempowers the regime, they also realize they have nothing to lose but their fear.
This administration is cooked. Literally no one is scared of them.

If you’re just figuring out now that yes, it really is fascism, that’s fantastic & I think you’re great & I’m glad we’re on the same side. I don’t need to scold you. My desire for “told-ya-so” is as useless as your denial was. Let’s move on together to the fight at hand, each as we feel called. 1/2

My grand theory of fascism and why it will always fail boils down to this. It is brittle, and if you dehumanize enough, you lose the capacity to attribute complex motives and goals to your opponent
they have no ability to back down and recalibrate AND they lack a theory of mind for their opponents

Nonviolence is, in fact, working. This administration is weaker than it was a year ago. More and more of the public is becoming galvanized against it; its agents are being impeded.
Do you honestly think people in the civil rights movement and other nonviolent movements faced no violence themselves? They practiced nonviolence because it works, because the oppressor wants a shooting war, which is the war it will win
How's your non-violent working Mr Gandhi stancil? They will kill each and everyone of you right if they had the chance and you will still be writing Kumbaya.

I wrote the speech I *wish* Chuck Schumer would give tonight - as an actual opposition leader. Here it is:

"My fellow Americans: At this hour, an unrestrained force of militarized and violent federal officers is carrying out a project of ethnic cleansing in the streets of American cities."

If you’re looking to understand who Alex Pretti was, look no further than this video where he honors a veteran who has passed away.

He was not a domestic terrorist.

He was a good man and a hero.

Last night, I was assaulted by a man at Sundance Festival who told me that Trump was going to deport me before he punched me in the face. He was heard screaming racist remarks as he drunkenly ran off. The individual was arrested and I am okay.

People should not have to be perfect victims to not be murdered by the state or by a racist game show host and his lawless den of jackals and elite pedophile cover up conspiracists, but still HOLY SHIT MAN
New: Alex Pretti, the man killed by the Trump-Vance mob of agents was an outdoorsmen, a mountain biker, an ICU nurse who "would go out of his way to help," say Veterans Affairs colleagues.

Cheerful. Funny. Gentle.

And still, per sources, Trump officials are urging staff to call him a "terrorist."
