It's not about if Horses is good or if you like it, it's about the world we're in where a few companies have control over who gets to make money and which artists get to continue working.

Stores can stock whatever they want, but if you don't understand the broader picture you shouldn't speak.

Only a few hours left to pick up my flawed-but-charming labor of love for just a couple bucks!

Some folks call it "2D Subnautica", to which I would add: "if it were a turn-based playable comic book about the journey of self-realization" moebial.itch.io/aquamarine #indiegame #indiedev

The one upside of generative AI is that it made me value human-made art more. Art that didn't really impress me before feels way more meaningful now. Thanks slop, you made me appreciate human creativity more than ever.

Patric is the incredible lead programmer for Doodle Champs! 🎨He brought my vision for my niche lil' drawing game for artists to life. He's a professional game dev, and a hell of a cool dude.

Please go check out his own awesome hand-drawn adventure game here! 🌊 AQUAMARINE 🌊

Well there’s the rub, as @thespaceshipper.com answered: exactly the same thing (with more people around me)

UBI gives everyone the same opportunity to pursue their interests and passions that ‘get really fucking lucky 15 years ago with a rectangle game’ gave me. And I think that’s neat.
Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?

If there is a humble yet surprisingly expensive key in your hub-world, you better believe my entire existence will revolve around purchasing it as quickly as possible.

And no, I do NOT care what it unlocks.

psst, no one is struggling with this - we are trying to create singular things that resonate with a huge audience or resonate hugely with a specific audience. We "struggle" with how tech and VC funding has broken almost every creative economy we have. So thanks but no thanks

It’s wild to me how much I can relate to in this story of triple-A/triple-i developers. Really eases the alienation and frustration that comes with trying to get a commercial narrative game finished.
NEW: the new game Dispatch is a huge hit (1 million copies!). But few people know how close it came to never existing.

Here's the wild story, from a canceled Splinter Cell game (scoop!) to a Telltale divorce to the founders not taking paychecks for six months: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...

I’m collecting case studies on good/interesting game dev practice/process from artisanal solo devs or small teams. Please; more reccs for developers who are not dudes.

This is entirely accurate and it’s not even close.
I feel like I say this every year but I really need people to hear it. Halloween is the best American holiday. Just kids outside welcomed into their world, marching around together, showing off their costumes to the elderly, parents meeting parents, neighbors catching up with neighbors.

Gamedev friends, this is more proof that we are not to blame for the current state of our industry.

These are the same executives that follow every trend blindly and ignorantly.

Aggressive MTX, everything is a live service, DRM that only punish paying players, NFTs, and now AI.

What a shitshow.
I legitimately didn't know they were competing with Steam and it's crazy to me that they burnt so much money on what sounds like something with very little (or wildly misguided) market research.
