A notably “warm” start to meteorological winter across Europe only far north of Norway, Finland and Sweden have escaped.

The first half has been perhaps been the warmest on record this December though is not expected to exceed 2015... (1/2)

Town of Jeddah,dubbed "The Saudi granny" is ending 2025 with a yearly average temperature of 31.0C,one of the world's highest.

Jeddah is one of the fastest warming cities in the world and the last cooler than average month was April 2020,almost 6 years ago !

Prior to today, the greatest hourly precip value at PAFA since 1950 with a temp of -9F or colder was 0.04". That has been exceeded 5 times today. So while it is never too cold to snow, this is an exceptional "cold snow" event.

Brutally hot night in SOUTH AFRICA
the highest night temperatures ever seen in the central western highlands
30/32C all night in Beaufort area

At dawn temperatures eased a bit but remained exceptional in some areas with Mins 20/25C at 500/1500m asl

A sharp cooling is on the way
Another record heat wave in SOUTH AFRICA
Overheated berg wind towards the coast with up to 42.9C at Patensie, just 0.1C from its December record.

Next night might be exceptional and places like East London can have its record hottest night.

Our ten years of having Pipa as a family member came an end today, sadly taken by cancer. I wasn’t a horse person until we picked these two up from Gumtree a decade ago. I now understand people who have horses. She was such a kind, gentle and friendly horse.
