I remember being literally afraid for my life and avoiding my favorite (gay) bar for a long while because the KKK was making noises about doing something.

So weird watching white liberals on this app repeatedly talk about the 90s like they were the good old days

Weird iteration of MAGA

Both of my main characters are queer and chill. And this will come up in the story, since there's a trans designer, a trans model, and an nb designer. #QueerPrompts

landscape of branches and roots growing around a small puddle of water. a blue raven stands above it with a feather in his beak, peering down into the water. three small abstract landscape paintings. Green seaweed looking one, a green stone formation that can be a city or forest, and a green and yellow natural formation that can be a leaf breaking apart Two book cover paintings. a blue one with a man and a sword, looking tired and worn, and a burnt hand besides him. the background is abstract shapes hidden by misty swirls.

The second image is of a city. There is a crowd of people that are just forms, and one man standing out in a red trenchcoat and white eyes staring at the viewer. dark blue landscape of two woods meeting for a conversation. It can also possibly be a single tree split down the middle.

Baba Yaga, Inc. is basically "what if Baba Yaga is a job instead of a person?" with some light cannibalism thrown in for a treat.

#SpoonieAuthChat biggest goal is getting to where I can type without pain again (after 4 weeks of PT, I can type, but it's not easy). As for writing goals:
1. edit werewoof boyfriend & send to editor
2. plan Fashionably Late (romance)
3. start researching for Baba Yaga, Inc. (horror)

Just realized I haven't shown you all the original art I bought from @fallenlights.net. I spent a perhaps unwise amount on it, but I tried and failed to resist. (Haven't decided where I'm hanging it yet.)
A painting with aquas and golds and grays that looks abstract at first but then resolves into a spectral and beautiful deer.

So much of "literary fiction" is really just "literary wanking". Focusing more on how they say things instead of what they're saying ends with the story as a victim. (Not all, mind you, but soooooo much.)

This is why the inflatable costumes works so well -- it works the same way calling them "weird" or "creepy" did. It disrupts their narrative, and makes them seem pathetic rather than cool-and-cruel.
