In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.

Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

Sure! Not trying to be aggressive or confrontational, it’s just that linguistically as soon as you add a more “meaningful,” descriptor, you have brought more than just the precise meaning you intend.

Even the numbers have that problem on some level, given that 1 will be seen as the default.

If I have to teach the LLM to do a good job when I already know how to do that job at a similar speed (because I’ve actually been doing it for years already) it doesn’t actually help me at all.

My time would be better spent mentoring someone more junior, and then I’d have a real human buddy too.

The key to be truly inclusive here is to separate the physical appearance of the character from any other facet of their being. This is why numbers work well, as they carry very little baggage with them like “masc/femme,” “male/female,” or “man/woman,” would.

I say go with numbers, or letters.
