Fuck me, this whole thread. Not necessarily Stephen, but some of the comments. I would have loved to save in my 20s, if I hadn't been scraping by month to month just to live. 30s the same.
This is why I think the 12k cap is right idea, wrong lever: the real tragedy of the UK’s aversion to saving into stocks is person in their early 20s on a low income putting their loose change on Monzo into a cash ISA.
"Not everyone likes investing" is such a strange mindset for someone who's 20 to have. That's probably the best age to put as much money possible in index funds!

The guy on the right in this picture is my Jewish immigrant great-grandfather. Like Stephen Miller’s great-great-grandfather, he opened a store in Cambria County, PA in the early 20th century. He probably attended synagogue a few times with Miller’s immigrant ancestor.
