I think Brown is very shrewd to identify internationalism as the key battleground.

Far too many on the centre-left and left are still indulging their economic nationalist fantasies – despite Biden and Starmer as clear examples of the shortcomings of such an approach.

The peace deals, the Nobel: he's desperate for tangible proof he'll be let in. A signed piece of paper. A visa he paid for. Which he didn't get. That last health check wasn't good news.

Pope Leo quotes Hannah Arendt:

“The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the convinced Communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction and the distinction between true and false no longer exist."

Pope Leo calls for news agencies to stand as bulwark against "post-truths," lies and manipulation
Pope Leo XIV has encouraged international news agencies to stand firm as a bulwark against the "ancient art of lying" and manipulation.

Obviously a lot of politicians and media are struggling to cope with a modern trade war when they still think governments created globalisation and can now undo that.

And we'll have continued turbulence until there's a better understanding of today's world. ecipe.org/blog/alterna...
Finding an Alternative to Populist Trade Policies
Even before the chaos of Trump’s second term, bringing back factory jobs and talking about tariffs were the predominant trade policy discussions in many countries. While these clearly have some sign

I didn't think of it. I never take photos... except that time I lived in LA with E for 3 months. Am I glad we took hundreds of photos then. It was lovely to see you, too. The current situation as many worst parts; selfishly, it's knowing that I can't just hop on a plane and go see my peeps anymore.

Now I see it this for the pure genius that it is.

There were hoping for scary young men throwing molotov cocktails to fit their narrative so they could start shooting people.

Instead they got dancing cartoon characters showing the country and the world how ridiculous their nazi coslplay is.

The most frustrating part of this is that a federal judge literally made a finding of fact of the evidence presented by the administration, a judge appointed by Trump, and that judge called the narrative untethered to facts, and the narrator, unreliable.

It might be hard to convey to people outside economics just how seismic this is. The Trump effect has most certainly arrived to US academia.

Even a pause in the killing and displacement would be good and I share the cautious optimism that this could end this phase of the catastrophe. But it is wild that people are treating this as if it’s the negotiated end of the Russo-Japanese War, or even Camp David 1978.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Besides linking Tylenol in pregnant women to autism, RFK Jr. now says circumcision is part of the reason why kids are autistic.

"Children who are circumcised early have double the rate of autism, and it's highly likely because they're given Tylenol. None of this is positive..."
