A very interesting thread.
Of great interest to me was the explanation on why "merch" culture is so powerful in Japan.
I've never been that kind of person so I've never been able to conceptualize why people are so eager to spend extra money on stuff like that but now I kind of do.

A Japan-only PS5 Digital Edition is an interesting move I don’t think will work for Sony like it has for Nintendo, partially because it’s too late but also for a bunch of other factors

I think it's a good thing that the freaks who make MTLs of game's in Japanese, and folks who spew story beats they got via osmosis from a Japanese speedrun stream, both are getting shut out. It's better for the overall health of the community in the longrun.

Through the grapevine I'm gathering the Twitter Falcom fanbase really needs to hear this.
Falcom wants to release their titles on more platforms day-1, and WW day-1. They also have said directly that they want to give room to grow new IPs that aren't just Ys and Trails, and to give time to nail Kai 2. Knowing all that this release cadence was the only way things were gonna go.
