They have sincerely convinced themselves that the average person wants Nazism. They hang out in group chats where Nazism is based and cool and they’ve been convinced this is a popular agenda

It’s kinda wild how modern ultra wealthy people missed the memo that if you build trains and libraries and museums and fund the arts people are generally less likely to want you dead?

It’s bonkers. Like say what you will about Andrew Carnegie but after getting wealthy beyond compare he built libraries. Thiel and Musk and Ellison have been like “what if we restored the third reich? what if I became Big Brother? what if we ushered in an age of superstition, wouldn’t that be neat”

Also, Trump seems to think that Biden was President on Jan 6, 2021. Fun fact: Biden was not President on Jan 6, 2021. Donald J Trump was President on Jan 6, 2021, and his people were running the FBI that day.

We have armed secret police kidnapping people off the street based on the color of their skin.

When we win: we will haul them before a Senate committee. The masks will come off. There will be consequences.

You know there are about a dozen despicable trash people in DHS and ICE and the administration working to find out who this guy is so they can go after him.
reichlinmelnick.bsky.social
My first thought was “wow I hope this guy didn’t give out his name because he could absolutely be charged” and yup, he is correct to stay anonymous.

This man’s account is shocking. His neighbors’ situation is shocking. The entire Chicago raid is shocking.

On the other side was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for his help.
"I wasn't planning on letting her stay, but I didn't know what the hell was going on," the man said of his Venezuelan migrant neighbors. But he quickly relented. The little girl was inconsolable and hid under his bed.
"I didn't want them to take her," said the man, who didn't want to be named because he fears he'll be targeted by federal authorities for his actions.
"I gave her my bedroom, and I just told her,
'Just stay there. Don't open, don't, shh, just stay quiet," he recalled telling the mom and daughter as he choked back tears.

Where are all the #fired #CDC and #NIH #scientists going to go? #Academic job market is even worse than #federal #government. A few may go into industry, but most people don’t have skills that #pharma and #biotech may want.

The Trump administration is culling the best and brightest from the federal workforce for a rounding error’s worth in savings.

Wrong analogy.

This would be like if the plumber spent a solid year warning you not to hire a *different* plumber because he's a sociopath who would deliberately break open the water main & flood your house, but you chose to do so anyway *and* gave the other plumber an exclusive 4-year contract.
cait.bsky.social
this is your fucking job that you're being paid to do. Imagine asking your plumber to stop your dishwasher from flooding your apartment and he's like "well what exactly do you want me to do?" The specifics are your part dog idk!

Interesting point here from @lutzfernandez.bsky.social: MAGA hates their designated enemies of the moment (blue America, migrants, etc) so much that they're enthusiastically taking their rage out on their children, too:

I didn't think George Stephanopolous had that gear, but good for him. That's how it should always be done.

STEPHANOPOULOS: I didn't insinuate anything. I asked you whether Tom Homan accepted $50k as was heard on an audio tape recorded by the FBI in September 2024. You did not answer the question. Thank you for your time.

VANCE: No, George, I sai--

The idea that "all opinions are valid" is stupid when it shows up in journalism, but that idea makes universities absurd.

Diverse points of view are good — people from different backgrounds, assumptions, etc.

"Diverse opinions" is bullshit. People have intrinsic value, but opinions only have value to the extent they have justifications.

People deserve a modicum of respect. Opinions deserve nothing unearned.

i’m so tired of this “viewpoint diversity“ BS. we’re teaching what we think to be the best explanation/theory after scrutinizing the best evidence. sometimes that supports opposing views. frequently it does not. we’re not a damn debating club. diversity emerges between classes.

The freakout in NYC isn’t about Mamdani’s race, but his critics’ perception of his politics (and to some extent his religion).
As the seemingly endless NYC mayoral campaign enters its final weeks, the howls of the Democratic establishment in the city are only getting louder.
They've really convinced themselves that the election of a (gasp) Democratic Socialist will mean the absolute destruction of the city. Cops will quit! Billionaires will flee! Dogs and cats, living together!
I've been trying to place where l've heard this same rhetoric before, and it finally hit me this weekend - this is exactly what southern whites said when the first wave of African American
mayors took power.
