How your world sees people with disabilities?

People with disabilities exist everywhere, and sometimes others don’t understand.

Weather or not it’s a birth defect or something else, how does the world treat disabled people?

Are there any myths surrounding disabilities?

Othera has many large animals, but also a species of large humanoids.

The largest species of humanoids are giants, who do count as megafauna due to their massive size.

Female giants are around 10-13 feet tall and 1 to nearly 2 tons while male giants can be from 13-16 feet tall and up to 3 tons

Here is a little short story that I am starting for Yule. I decided that I want to write something every day as part of a short story or it’s a short story until the new year.

I think it’s time for a little exercise.

So to start I’m going to write about the Uttulu.

Looks like work is going to drag two hours late today 💀 ☠️

Oh there are so so many, lots of animals have naturally magical abilities like hydra and unicorn.

One of the original ones I have in the setting is a dog called the Aloo, they are giant horned mop dogs with powerful light magic to run invisible and make willow wisps to guide lost travelers

One job that exists in the real world but it’s very different in Othera is the job of lapidary work, which is the cleaning of gems.

In Othera it is a magical profession where skilled practitioners will pull and cleanse, magical energy out of rare stones in order to allow them to be used by wizards
#DecemberWorldbuilders, one of the great things about writing SFF is making a world *different* from our own. Have these differences led to a task that only *your* characters have to deal with? Any magic or monster-related chores? Anything related to world-specific festivals or seasonal changes?

Piggybacking off of my last response, orcs actually have a strong mortal belief against it. They believe that a persons freedom should be their choice alone, and because of this, they sometimes have miscommunication with human slavers.

Humans practice it in some regions but not all
#DecemberWorldbuilders, tell me honestly: how dark and dystopian is your world? Do they have slavery there? Is it based on anything like race, sex, or class? Can a person be freed? How bad is it for them?
December 22, 2025 at 2:37 PM
Sorry I got behind

Yes, there absolutely are, with one extreme example being orcs trading portions of their lives.

In order to restore, honor or secure stability orcs or will let other others buy portions of their lives, like years. During that time, they will work for them and be loyal to a fault
#DecemberWorldbuilders. Hello, friends! In your world, are there people who make a living by helping with everyday chores? Paid servants or some kind of employee of the state whose job is to do routine tasks other people don't want to do?

We’ve talked about magic, but how do people feel about it

If you setting had magic or advanced tech, how do normal people feel about it? Are there misconceptions about how it works?

Do people try and avoid it or is it something that draws a lot of admiration or attention.

Happy Yule to all who celebrate, a little late getting it set up tonight but dnd went long.

Looking forward to a good new year and a fun and creative 12 days of Yule.

The goal right now is going to be writing a small short story every day until the 31st.

Today let’s talk about bedtime stories

What are some stories that people tell children to make them behave or teach them lessons in your setting?

Are these stories true or are they made up to prove a point? Or is it a little bit of both?

Alright everyone let’s talk about gifts

What kind of gifts are given in your setting? Do people get gifts on their birthdays or in weddings? Are there holidays associated with gifts?

What kind of special symbolic gifts are there?

What about joke gifts?

Today fate is up in the air

In your setting is their fate or destiny at play? Or do things simply happen according to random chance. Is your main character a chosen one?

How do the people in the setting feel about the idea of fate and karma?

2025 was pretty rough for most of us. But you're still here, bro. "But I didn't achieve my goals" Maybe not, but working toward them is never a waste. The things you managed to do, work on, learn, and create is plenty of an achievement. Give yourself some credit. You did your best. You did great.

One of the main ways that Everett makes money is by healing people, he was trained in one of the largest churches in the region in healing magic, but also in medicine. This allows him to travel around like a traveling doctor. Something he does very often is basic medical care on people and animals.
#DecemberWorldbuilders. What tasks does your MC (or another important character) have to do on a regular basis? Do they have a house to keep clean? Adventuring gear to upkeep? Animals to care for? Or, perhaps they have other people to do all that work for them?
December 18, 2025 at 7:33 PM
Today we are talking about medicine

What is the level of medical tech in your setting, but more importantly how does it interact with magic and religion?

Can magic help with healing and getting rid of sickness?

Does religion have much to do with medicine?

I grew up being told stories by my dad , he always inspired me and my siblings to be creative.

What really made me want to start getting into writing and art is when my older brother started drawing and making comics.

It made me want to take the parts of the stories I liked and make my own
With all this awful news going on i wanna ask this question once again to fellow artists and general creatives. What got YOU into art? what sparked that motivation to start writing? what made you wanna pick up a camera and start taking pics? Like share with us your reasons.

I should make a thread of all of my intelligent species in my setting
December 17, 2025 at 5:09 PM
Did not post much this weekend or week so far but I hope to change that today, what should I talk about?
December 17, 2025 at 4:47 PM
The uttulu are extremely well renowned for their weaving abilities, which has made them extremely desirable for the production of clothes.

But there are silks, unique strength also allows them to create sturdy cloth armor.

They also love to knit for strangers

#decemberworldbuilders
Greetings, #DecemberWorldbuilders. This week we're talking about the routine chores our characters do. In your setting, who makes or repairs clothes/armor? Do you have tailors or blacksmiths? Have any of your main characters had to learn any of these skills?
December 17, 2025 at 3:07 PM
Today let’s talk about special weapons.

Most fantasy settings have at least some kind of magical weaponry, what kind of magic weapons does your setting have? (Or sci-fi)

Are these objects important because of what they can do, or what they represent? Or both?

Oops nearly forgot about this one

In my setting I can’t really think of any tasks that stand out

But something that Everett has to do because of his magic is he has to take a good amount of time getting dressed and tending to his robes to make sure he’s protected from magic

#decemberworldbuilders
Hey there, #DecemberWorldbuilders! This week is devoted to more mundane worldbuilding: chores. This week, I'll ask how your worldbuilding affects the normal everyday lives of your characters. Today: how does the environment /climate affect their daily lives? What tasks to they perform?
