In 2025, I reviewed over 40 top-down action-adventure games starring guys with swords. In this collage you can see The Legend of Zelda, Ys, Beyond Oasis, Light Crusader, Lagoon, Sword of Mana, Crystalis, Illusion of Gaia, Golden Axe Warrior, and many, many others. Silent Hill 3 by Konami for the Playstation 2. Batman: The Arcade game by Atari for the arcades. (Yes, this is the only Batman game screenshot I had available) In 2026, I'm looking at side-scrolling action games that star women with weapons. Among the representatives include various Castlevania protagonists, Yuko from the Valis series, Amy the Hedgehog, the priest from Cadash, and Elvira. Expect to see many more over the course of next year.
