In the third district of a Martian town called
Chryse, where seven families had come together,
there was a large mansion called Seven Stars.
There lived lots of people, alongside a great many
cats.
Gaelio, who was born into the house called Bauduin,
and McGillis, who was taken in by the house called
Fareed, were the closest of friends.
When they were still just kittens, they heard a
story from their families.
Long ago, cats protected the house from mice.
Little Gaelio’s eyes would shine as he told McGillis:
“Fighting all the mice that sneak into the house is
a cat’s duty!
When we spot them, instead of using that old horn
from the stories, we’ll let out a great big ‘meow’
to warn everybody!
We are Nyallarhorn!”
McGillis quietly nodded along.

Time passed, and the two kittens grew into splendid
cats.
Perched atop Gaelio’s head was his guinea pig
companion, Ein.
In Seven Stars manor, strange things were going on.
Food seemed to mysteriously disappear from parties.
Rumors were spreading that people saw mice…
Day after day, the cats patrolled the mansion.
Then, at last, they found mice carrying a large piece of
cheese.
“There they are, those mice!” Gaelio cried as he ran
after them.
McGillis followed close behind.
The cats chased the mice out of the house and into
the town square.
Gaelio was so excited that he began scratching
furiously at a tree.
Then, he challenged the swiftest of all the mice,
Mikazuki, to a tree-climbing contest.

With his Nyallarhorn friends watching, Gaelio
started to climb the tree.
While he did that, McGillis talked to the leader of
the mice.
“Why put yourselves in danger to sneak into the
human’s houses?” He asked.
McGillis’ friend, Isurugi, watched with an odd look on
his face.
In reply, the mouse named Orga said:
“The humans took our forest and our food, we’re
just taking a little bit of it back!”
Listening to him, McGillis remembered
when he was a stray kitten.
Just then, Gaelio was shocked and
overwhelmed by the mice and fell from
the tree.
Ein and the others rushed to help him.
When they did, McGillis let the mice get
away.
Isurugi was once a stray kitten too, so
he understood a bit of how McGillis felt.

Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year

We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.
