In that case, it sounds like it will be a good fit.
I felt it was one of those distros that's trying to imitate something else (Apple) rather than having its own clear identity, style over content.

By all accounts, it's a bit of a pain to customise, but I never invested enough time into it to notice.

What's your reason for wanting to use it?
Been talking to* my Windows computers for years...

This is the future of Windows. Microsoft wants to rewrite Windows to turn computers into AI PCs that you talk to. It's now bringing AI features to all Windows 11 PCs today, in a bid to convince you to talk to your PC and let AI control it. Full details 👇 www.theverge.com/news/799768/...

Exactly, you felt you were crossing into someone’s space for months, every time you walked over the line.

House has no lawn, pretty sure it was a substitute move for what you showed above.
Someone round the corner from me power washed the pavement until it was spotless, but only in front of their terraced house. Next level pettiness.
From the wording of that statement I’m not sure GOG will have it for much longer.
This is why I'm not generally in favour of remasters as they tend to lead to the erasure of originals, or at best, they are relegated to becoming DLC for newer versions.

This is not preservation, just a cynical cash grab, ironically by a company that is not even the original it claims to be.
Oh, something else not happening in 2026, along with the spaceship not landing on Mars...
They've not yet taken the previous statement down either, which was (and still is) reposted by a lot of people.

Is that because that one makes them look better?
Over the years I've found these really useful from a game preservation point of view, some of the better warez CDs out there.
Today I will be taking a look at some classic pirate CDs from the late 90s, the Twilight compilations, from the Netherlands with a vengeance.
We'll delve a bit into the story, look at some oddities and games and probably find time for other things.

It's worth reading this and some of the quotes people have made, to make an informed decision about supporting the SNES RPGs book.
Let's hope the book doesn't have a section on Brazil or "third world countries"

oh its the thing everyone said was going to happen when this got brought in and it immediately happened
I think it's 'pragmatic preservation', and, as they're a business, they need to sell to people, who of course will be using new hardware.
Some games I own digitally, I still need to find a disc image to run them on an older or native machines - it would be nice if source media was included, as part of the preservation.

Although, I suppose, there's only so far back you can go where ISOs etc. are supported.
As an example, the preserved GOG version of Fallout 2 is a mess if you try and run it on Windows XP (as I was trying to do the other day) - you have no chance on Windows 9x.

I still had to mod it myself, with the community driven Fallout 2 Restoration project, just to get it to look OK on screen.
I don't be too much of a downer here, I'm appreciative of the preservation effort, but sometimes I wonder what's getting preserved?

It may be too much to expect, but many of these 'preserved' games no longer run on old PCs, or are modded to a point where they no longer resemble the original.
I've been impressed with GOG's preservation program. They've done a good job of preserving popular games as well as lesser-knowns and they're ensuring they'll work on multiple platforms - a must for future-proofing!

Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist is one of many games with a secure future!
Even more (yes, again) classics join the GOG Preservation Program
GOG are really stretching out the announcements for their 17th anniversary, with a second helping of classic games now in the GOG Preservation Program.

This is so true.

Getting the games working IS the game.
I mostly remember your post about it not working, then a doz. guys turned up to mansplain drivers and patches😅

The point of getting #retrogames working is never to play them though.
We do it for the challenge!
For knowing we COULD play it!
But don't because maybe ruination of childhood memories😉
Yeah, I read your post properly the second time.
