Man I'm so goddamn sick of ai. "Wahhh you can't have a reasonable conversation about ai on here," yeah maybe be mad about the two year parade of scam artists and financial charlatans and environmental ruiners who have radicalized everyone against the spell check that agrees with you

Rhetorial question but how is it ice's job to go after agitators
He literally says in this clip that ICE will keep in Minnesota “quick reaction forces” — a military term — to go after “agitators.” Remember that those on the ground in MPLS have spent more than a week trying to tell everyone that Trump’s prior “deescalation” was a ruse and ICE is still operational
Homan: "Operation Metro Surge is ending. In the next week, we're going to deploy the officers here on detail back to their home stations or to other areas of the country where they're needed."

GenAI outputs a homogenized statistical average of all the stuff that was stolen to train it.

Think about what that does to the aesthetics of a person raised on it, imagine subversive and erotic and queer art made by a person who has only ever known Mcdonalds ads, muzak, and advertising copy.

Of course these accusations are baseless partisan bullshit. On the other hand, creating an Apple branded News app with its inherent editorial decisions was always a spectacularly bad idea, especially the way it obfuscates actual sources.
"In a letter to chief executive Tim Cook, FTC chair Andrew Ferguson cited recent press coverage of a report from conservative media watchdog Media Research Center which claimed that Apple has promoted “leftist outlets” in its news feed."

Every photo from Minneapolis looks like this. Cops decked out with guns and full tac gear facing off against people in bathrobes, parkas, and sweatpants armed only with whistles and cell phones.

Yet every verified MAGA chode on X dutifully calls it a riot or violent insurrection.

There are way more of us than there are of them. It’s always been the case that when we get out the vote, we win. The only way they can win is by making it harder to vote.
The most effective way to avoid a "nightmare scenario" is for Dems to blow out the GOP, rather than twisting ourselves into knots and declaring the election is going to be stolen, so why bother.

But… it isn’t? Seriously, if you can’t trust an email summary without checking it yourself, if you can’t have it write code without being a programmer yourself, if half of its medical advice will kill you, then no, this stuff is still not as good as the hype suggests.
At some point people will realize that whether or not there is an investment bubble or environmental impacts, it's not possible to say in Feb 2026 that this stuff isn't at least as good at many tasks as are the millions of people currently employed to do them.

“Consider that the AI hype is true.”

My dude. Lots of us have considered this. We’ve tried it, put it through its paces, and found it seriously lacking. It’s impressive software with very limited real world applications. No amount of advertising money they throw at it will make it less of a hype.
I understand why people are exhausted by AI hype, and why those of us squarely in the corner of "human dignity uber alles" see AI doomerism as self-serving hype, but I *really* think people on the left broadly need to start thinking seriously about the possibiltiy of the hype being...true.

Notice how the popular media narrative has moved on, while people on the ground in Minneapolis are still struggling and crying out that things are as bad as ever. This is how fascist regimes operate — overreach, recalibration, normalization. Get louder, not quieter.

I’ve so had it with this kind of uncritical thinking. “Our fiction machine assembled a story that we found utterly convincing.” It’s like calling your calculator a math genius.

TIL Dutch Olympic speed skater Jutta Leerdam (speed skating is huge in the Netherlands and one of the few sports the country excels at) is in a relationship with noted fascist wanker Jake Paul, and Dutch media are tripping over themselves trying to minimize that uncomfortable fact.
