Moving my documentation of #AllDisneyMoviesOrBust over here. I will put up everything I’ve watched so far in a thread and then start from where I’m at. This project started April 8,2020 during lockdown
Went to a dinner party tonight where I was 25-30 years younger than everyone else there and I highly recommend breaking bread with your elders and just absorbing all their genius. That’s. All.

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

what I love about this story is that it's about a woman who remembers a film that is considered lost. That film is a real film called THE MEN OF TOMORROW (1932). Thit did such an amazing job with the art as we tried to reconstruct what we think the story was. Here's her version of the poster.

New York City helped my mother become the artist she is today. The next generation deserves a City Hall that lifts up tomorrow's artists as well.

To echo much of what's been said:

Please don't pirate books.

If you can't pay for a book, there is already a solution for you: use a library.

Whatever you think authors, illustrators, and other book career people make, it's less than that. By a lot. Stealing from us isn't heroic, it's crushing.

The way this woman was treated is horrific and it's actually quite heartening to see so many boycott in solidarity.

A comics festival is not more important than what happened to her.
