Or lowered it.

Once again, Mike Johnson doesn’t watch the news or read the paper.

Apparently.

Q: We've seen images out of Chicago of federal agents shooting faith leaders with pepper balls and arresting journalists. Where's the limit for you on what's acceptable conduct by federal agents?

MIKE JOHNSON: I've not seen them cross the line yet.

As you’re trying to grant some grace to the graceless Bari Weiss, I have a question:

Does she strike you as a person who understands that she doesn’t know things? I don’t think so.

I used to work at a company whose owner/CEO demanded “what I’m doing” updates on an absurd level. It’s not good.

REPORTER: Do you support repealing Obamacare and what's your healthcare plan?

MIKE JOHNSON: We worked on repealing and replacing Obamacare back in 2017. I still have PTSD from the experience. We know that American healthcare needs dramatic reform. We have lots of ideas.

(So, no plan)

I talk to a lot of brewers. They make IPAs because they sell. They don’t want to make seltzers, but they sell.

Alcohol consumption is down. Zero alcohol and low-alcohol options are gaining popularity. I think he’s missing the point completely.

3. He’s right about the inscrutable beer labels. That’s a pain.

4. I don’t see why he hates tall boys and 16oz cans and four-packs. Easier to share.

2. He says breweries make too many high-alcohol beers. Given the heat around low- and non-alcohol options, I’d like to see some data on that. I’m betting it’s bullshit. I have many breweries right near my home, and lower-alcohol options are everywhere.

1 cont. Why do breweries make IPAs? Ask a brewer. It’s because people want them, particularly the hazy ones. I don’t like hazys, but it’s not all about me.

Why would breweries make beers that their customers don’t want? Answer: they don’t.

1. He says breweries make too many IPAs, and that “Most taste like pine resin with a splash of grapefruit pith, and not in a good way.”
A common complaint about IPAs that is just wrong. Some are piney; some citrusy; some tropical. There is no typical IPA.

This is an exceptionally wrong-headed article on today’s NYT about the problems in the craft beer world. This guy doesn’t get it, and I’ll tell you why.

REPORTER: We know the president moved forward with mass layoffs. We're also learning there were significant cuts to staff at special education services. Are you comfortable with those cuts?

There’s a possibly apocryphal story about how, at the beginning of Meat Loaf’s career, the NYT referred to him as, “Mr. Loaf.”
