Context: this speech is from SIR THOMAS MORE, a history written, as near as scholars can tell, in the early 1600s by 6 or 7 people including Dekker, Heywood, Chettle, Shakespeare, and Munday.

It was never performed, because Jacobean England was a police state and it was banned by the censor.
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

You really have to admire spam emails that start with, "First off, I am a real human, not a bot" and end with "Again, I am a real human."

Skyla is wise, and we appeal to her in times of doubt.
Apropos of my DMs right now, in case this is useful to others...if you're struggling with a writing project and you have All Those Voices in your head with really dumb criticism, please internalize this important lesson from Skyla's School of Writing:

DOUBLE DOWN OUT OF SPITE

Milk chocolate.
Guys, I really need to talk about something dumb and meaningless. What's a universally beloved sweet treat that you think is just mid? For me, it's meringue.

What can I say? My allure is irresistible.
Cancer: Oddly your seduction technique of loudly shrieking into the ears of prospective partners is working far better than it should.

Here to report that sorting through the hundreds of PVC parts from valves and unions that have been thrown into boxes over the years at my work, so I can see which ones are worth keeping as spare parts, is just like playing with Legos for adults.

Okay, I have to write 500 words in the next 45 minutes or I lose all respect for myself as a writer. Reporting back soon, may the power of Public Shaming be with me. #amwriting

My cat was having a really bad dream and she seemed like she was in distress so I gently petted her to wake her up and she convulsed awake, flipping 180 degrees, hissing and spitting, and anyway she would like you to know that I am a terrible mother.

Me: Gosh, I sure hope I don't need to have my heart retested, I'm not due for another year

Some folks use their murder journals just for other notes. Some don't use them at all. Others really do use them for their series notes! Here's @michellemanus.com's and I know @mellhay.bsky.social does too.
Hex is helping me fill out the murder journal as we reread the first four of @skyladawn.ca's Waverly Jones books in anticipation of the release of A Dark and Distant Home.

The overarching series mystery has so much to sink your teeth into if you need to focus your brain on something right now.

A cozy paranormal mystery about a tea shop with odd hours in a Coastal Oregon tourist town.

Murder, tea, fey, a teenage werewolf who bakes amazing croissants, a pickpocketing tentacle monster, a vampire, a hellhound puppy, and a mundane proprietor.

Shenanigans ensue.
