You: “Hahah Baha Men, that really takes me back“

3yo: “huh?”

You: *starts belting* “Who let the dogs out? Who who who who?”

3yo: “….”

You: “…”

3yo (whispers): ”Our dogs are running around the front yard, who let them out?”

From the article:

“A memo English shared with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said 71% of TAD funding had supported affordable housing in the city. It was identical to an emailed press release published by the group Atlantans For Safety on Thursday.”

Is he hoping that by buddying up with white racists they will let him pass as white?

The article repeats the claim that 71% of beltline TAD money went to housing, but the way I read the claim from Atlantans for Safety is 71% of money *not spent on beltline construction* which is a much smaller number.

It’s written ambiguously though so hard to say with certainty.

APS is currently planning on shutting schools to meet budget shortfalls. They need the money that the expiring TADs will bring.

You can't support kids in struggling neighborhoods by closing their local schools and funneling money to developers.

Andre Dickens has already said that property taxes will have to rise in the coming years. Now you are looking to divert money away from the general fund for investment in specific districts rather than go through the normal budget process.

TADs may not raise taxes, but the result is the same.

Man, this guy really needed a challenger for Mayor. Embarrassing.

Wow. The Mayor of Atlanta's communications office sure knows how to do some off-the-rails ad hominem attack on Linked-In. Absolutely devoid of substantive response. (See reponse below)

It clearly spells this constitutional violation out right there in the establishment clause.

I haven’t bought beer in 10 years but surely nothing like that exists.‘

I don’t know which argument is worse: “APS tax revenue still grew despite the TADs” or “We could be getting this money from other sources but aren’t for Reasons.”

You can all reminisce at your next judge convention!

Oh wait, is one of you not a judge? Awkward.

The mayor's TAD-grab PR team accuses Dan Immergluck, who critiqued their plan, of misinformation!
Well, hit dogs will holler. And every accusation is a confession.
Facts:
Extending the TADs will increase taxes to make up for the diversion of revenue.
TADs are unaccountable slush funds.

I've argued against a 25-year extension of all the (already) 20+year-old tax increment financing districts (TADs) in Atlanta. Someone sent me an email from "Atlantans for Safety" arguing against my explanation for why extending the TADs is a bad idea. Their email & my responses are (next)...
