One way to read stories based on leaked docs: look at time from being circulated to docs getting published — bc that’s the amount of time it took to a) get someone pissed enough to agree to leak and b) get enough also-pissed people to confirm.

These are slides dated April 29-30, published May 1.
(AP) — Detailed Army plans for a potential military parade on President Donald Trump’s birthday in June call for more than 6,600 soldiers, at least 150 vehicles, 50 helicopters, seven bands and possibly a couple thousand civilians, The Associated Press has learned.

I could be wrong about this but I really think most Americans do not want to be forced to “do their own research” about food & drug & product safety and would rather that the government agencies that have been sorting that all out for them for decades not be obliterated in the name of “efficiency.”

it’s not an important point at all, but I just can’t get over the fact that these people apparently believe they’d do well in a “meritocracy” after failing upwards their entire lives

RFK Jr thinks autistic people are second class citizens who “never pay taxes”, “never hold a job”, are a burden on society and that vaccines cause autism so they should be banned.

Incredibly destructive ideas for anyone to have, let alone the secretary of health and human services.

Crazy times.

I saw someone pointing out that the left wants to feed a 100 children just so one child doesn’t go hungry and republicans don’t want to feed a hundred children in case one of them don’t deserve it.

Calm down, folks, it was just an attempted assassination of a Jewish Democratic governor and his family on the first night of Passover, it’s not like somebody spray painted a dick on a Cybertruck.

Oil prices are an interesting proxy for economic expectations and for some reason I find them more trustworthy than Wall Street. Oil traders really do not expect May to be a good month for the global economy

OK, non-finance people: crash course in bonds. Connery is decent but overrated and his movies haven’t aged well. everyone thinks Moore is lame but his movies are by far the most fun. don’t watch the Dalton ones. Pierce Brosnan is Irish not English. two of Craig’s five are classics the others are eh.
OK, non-finance people: crash course in bonds. Bond prices and yields moving opposite directions. Yields on US govt bonds [“treasuries”] are surging (ie the prices are falling). Prices are falling because people are selling treasuries at a massive clip.
I am actually scared now

Yes, it’s a bit hard to see now, but allowing the president to become a king who can kidnap citizens while also demolishing the global financial system is a small price to pay for getting to keeping 23 trans women from playing college sports.

A reminder that if the government can send migrants to a prison camp without any due process, it can send U.S. citizens there, too. I know because this happened to me and my family in 1942.

What are you talking about?

Why, just the other day I went to the dealership and told them I wouldn't buy their $50,000 car until they'd bought 100,000 apples at $0.50/apple from my yard. Otherwise, they'd just be ripping me off.

Then, everyone cheered.
