Everything about this case shows how easy it is to send someone to death row.

Anthony Boyd was sentenced to death entirely on dubious eyewitness testimony. His lawyer had a month to prepare for trial. Alabama plans to execute him next week.

Rejecting calls for mercy from opponents of the death penalty, Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe announced Monday that Lance Shockley’s execution will be carried out as planned at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Kehoe denies clemency for Lance Shockley, setting first execution as Missouri governor

Missouri law allowed a judge to sentence Shockley to death after a jury deadlocked and couldn’t decide on the punishment.
