The biggest fallout internationally post-Trump is the rest of the world realizing they cannot count on the US to follow through on anything after a presidential election. It’s going to take us decades to rebuild that trust, if it ever happens.
US is hosting the World Cup and Olympics, but I can see a lot of professional associations just pushing members not to host in the US any longer.

It’s funny how the richest assholes are always the ones whining that government does too much.
"It's just like you really want the least amount done by government possible.” The billionaire then pushed false claims about immigrants being paid to enter the U.S. in “vast numbers” and being “fast-tracked to citizenship.”
DOGE in a nutshell - conspiracy nut wants to make govt as small as possible
The billionaire said instead of DOGE, he would have worked at his companies if he had the chance to go back and do it all again.

Spoken like a man who has never met a kid in grade school. My kids seem to need at least 37 pencils per day. I have no idea what they do with them.
Trump: "You can give up certain products. You could give up pencils. Because under the China policy, every child can get 37 pencils. They only need 1 or 2. They don't need that many. You always need steel. You don't need 37 dolls for your daughter. 2 or 3 is nice. So we're doing things right."

One of the most frustrating things with Trump is how such a proudly ignorant man can get on TV, proclaim how little he knows, and almost no one calls him on it. We still make fun of Al Gore for "inventing the internet" and yet Trump keeps on Trumping.
there is no available evidence that donald trump understands what a tariff is, what a trade deficit is, and what the national debt is.
The way Trump talks about the problems he caused by unilaterally imposing tariffs is fairly insane, even by his standards.

I can’t believe how much of the Trump era is about solving problems that *don’t* exist while making all the problems that *do* exist, worse.

There is no one who thinks the biggest problem with air travel right now is not having an area to do pull-ups.
Duffy on what he's doing to improve the airport experience for travelers: "Maybe I want a workout area where people might get some blood flowing doing some pull ups or step ups in the airport."

Whoa … this is really strange.

Federal law enforcement managed to confiscate almost two tons of cocaine, and arrest 3 suspects, without blowing the boat out of the water or killing anyone.

the idea that a handful of conservative legal scholars have an understanding that should supersede a settlement affirmed my generations of american is astoundingly arrogant, and the idea that trump — or any president — can unilaterally overturn that settlement is just despotism

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

I'm going to keep saying this in my effort to speak it into reality: Supreme Court should have at least 100 Justices with rotating panels (and maybe an en banc option). No single Justice should have so much power and they shouldn't be names everyone knows.
A court with a normal-ish conservative majority would have been tolerable. I'm not eager for court packing, impeaching justices, and other such options. But this court sticking around post-Trump is untenable. They've already torched their own legitimacy, the only question is what do we do about it.
Democrats need to lay the groundwork for reform by attacking the villains on the Supreme Court - loudly, angrily, personally, relentlessly. And they should start now.

If you care, Kennedy, you publicly call on the House to bring up articles of impeachment against RFK today.

No "thought and prayers," no hand-wringing.

Either call for his impeachment, or just be quiet. You have strong influence to stop this. Anything else is just performative nonsense.

The USPS should be losing money. It's a government service. If it made a profit, that profit would be money stolen from the people of this country.
The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

Prison rape is wrong.

Jokes about prison rape are wrong.

Eliminating protections against prison rape is wrong.

If another country sentenced a criminal to be raped, we'd consider it a crime against humanity.

BUT

A large segment of Americans regard prison rape as a de facto part of the sentence.
BREAKING: Trump administration plans to end prison rape protections for trans & intersex people, memo says. A DOJ memo says certain standards under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) do not align with Trump’s Jan. 20 anti-trans executive order, @byadamrhodes.bsky.social reports.

Democrats can retaliate against these GOP gerrymanders with new maps in Illinois, Maryland, Oregon, & Virginia.

They could flip 7 GOP seats to make up for this & new GOP maps in Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, & possibly soon Indiana.

Imposing costs is the only way to deter the GOP from doing this
