🧵A thread to help Americans understand what they are up against. I'm an American citizen who grew up in GA as a person with dark skin, and who has lived in Europe for some time. Anglo-Saxon white supremacy and European-style fascism share a common history. But I have also observed key differences:
The Anglo-Saxon white supremacy Americans are familiar with has merged with Continental-European fascism. This takes any traditional American resistance strategies out of the picture. Passive damage mitigation, protests, political organizing, hoping to just ride it out, will not work. 1/
Surviving fascism depends on effective resistance. But can civilians defeat fascists armed with anything from drones to nukes? The answer is yes. The only truly irreversible thing a trans child is likely to do is take their own life. "What if they do something irreversible?" actually means "theyre not allowed to make a decision!"
