The best thing I learned from Macaulay Culkin at last night’s Home Alone screening is that his 4yo son loves the movie, thinks of himself as Kevin, and has no idea that that’s his dad. Culkin is attempting to hide that fact for as long as possible

NEW: AI “recipe slop” is overrunning search and social. Food creators say Google’s AI Overviews and glossy fake food pics are drowning out real, tested recipes — collapsing traffic and setting home cooks up for disaster, especially this Thanksgiving.

This is what happens when you give Republicans three branches of government.
Quotes on the economy, last few days:

* WSJ: “Life felt more doable a year and a half ago.”

* CBS: “Paying for the house, the car — I just couldn’t do it anymore.”

* FT: “scraping for crumbs.”

I really don’t think we can overstate the harm that the tech ethos of move fast and break things (followed by the unsaid “and then just move on”) has done beyond tech. Government, ngos, universities, public schools that have invited the folks who think like this in keep ending up gutted
All DOGE accomplished was purging critical government staff, handing private data to outsiders, and sentencing thousands in developing countries to death by gutting USAID.

I don’t say this lightly: if there were any justice in this world, the people responsible for this devastation would be in jail
DOGE 'doesn't exist' with eight months left on its charter

I’m still not numb enough to accept these things as normal.

I genuinely can’t understand how any church going Christian can support Trump and the MAGA movement, when so much of what they promote seems rooted in anger, hate and is aimed at causing needless suffering.
NEW: President Biden commuted the death sentences of most people on the federal death row before exiting office.

President Trump is now effectively looking to retaliate, and to detain those people in the most brutal conditions in the federal system. Bolts reports:

There are fewer and fewer essential publications every year. Liberal Currents is one of them. Help them keep it going.
We are close to $30,000 raised in the first 12 hours. It's a good start.

We like to think the same can be said of our growth as a publication—that it's a good start.

But as we head toward 2026, 2027, and 2028, we need to do much more. Give now to push us onward: www.gofundme.com/f/the-libera...

My 6yo has started pretend electronic locking her bedroom door at night so Trump can't get in. She seemed to think that he himself is going into homes and causing harm. There are children in her school whose families have been impacted by ICE so we assume this is where the concern came from.
A Wash Post review found instances of parents arrested near campuses in at least 10 states so far this year. Actions near campuses—which include shooting a man, releasing tear gas and engaging in a car chase—have prompted lockdowns. @justinemcdaniel.bsky.social www.washingtonpost.com/education/20...

Then this today in Punchbowl. Republicans are angry that the White House is "treating them like garbage". You can't act like you aren't worthy of any respect and then complain that you don't get respected. They are reaping what they sowed. (2/2)
