Podesta is part of the very elite he's railing against. It's been decades since people working in manufacturing were the majority of the American working class.
Also in 2025 if your default assumption is that working class = factory workers and you're ignoring hourly service workers (retail, food service) and healthcare workers who are not doctors and nurses I am not going to take you seriously.

I think it's a near 100% certainty that the vast majority of the well-off who fetishize manual labor, have never done manual labor.
I've worked as a roofer, carpenter's assistant, summer relief in a can manufacturing facility, etc. The sense of accomplishment was gratifying, but I don't miss it.

the other thing is that no one who fetishizes manual labor actually cares to improve life for people who are in those circumstances! no support for unionization or a generous welfare state! no interest in policies that make life easier for people who work their hands or afford them more autonomy!
