He/him. DSA Birmingham, Alabama. HEMA, hiking, caving, tabletops.
You're telling me that Zohran Mamdani is working with people affiliated with DSA? Wow. I didn't know that. You're telling me now for the first time.
“There are a lot of bad names,” one Jewish leader told Jewish Insider, sharing screenshots of exchanges flagging some transition picks seen as problematic, such as an anti-Zionist rabbi and activists affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America.
Mamdani transition picks draw scrutiny from Jewish leaders
Among the most controversial picks was Mamdani’s appointment of Tamika Mallory, a former Women’s March leader who stepped down from its board amid allegations of antisemitism, to a newly established community safety committee

Pritzker: 4%

I missed the window for the latest star wars discourse but here's my take anyway: Solo is underappreciated and Rogue One is good but suffers from obvious rewrites and leans too hard on nostalgia bait. 3 rotating antagonists clutters up the narrative, drop CGI Tarkin and just have Vader's end scene.

"You're too stupid to know what's legal or illegal so just follow orders" would not be a particularly compelling argument to me if I were in the military
BLITZER: I want to be precise. Should members of the US military obey clearly illegal orders?

McCLAIN: You're asking an enlisted person for their opinion on what they think is legal. That's a pretty slippery slope. Follow your commander in chief. That's the oath that you took

(Not a no!)

Quoggy: mushy and soft, like a quagmire. Herman's saying anyone who puts oil in their hair might be a bit of a fruit - in context he's specifically throwing shade on the anointed kings of England - but I say such a man is simply a Dapper Dan Man.

I am sympathetic to arguments that Mamdani shouldn't have met Trump even if I disagree with them but I sure hope the other side can offer some better alternatives than "build an army of the working class(?)"

Would you believe this is the end result of a thread that started with the OP claiming that the founding fathers were socialists.
No. In fact, the word "rape" (as a form of sexual assault) didn't even exist until the 1800s.

I really think if we could stuff Vance and Miller and all those other ghouls and gombeens into a locker and gave Trump a bunch of DSA interns to hang out with all day we'd be halfway to a second Soviet Republic by February.
Reporter to Trump: Elise Stefanik calls Mamdani a "jihadist." Do you think you're standing next to a jihadist?

Trump: No, I don't. But she's out there campaigning, and you say things sometimes in a campaign. She's a very capable person.

Interesting to see how many people on Bluesky have interpreted Mamdani's participation in an NYC DSA forum last night as intervention against the wishes of membership meanwhile the consensus among membership seems to be pretty energetic and joyful that he is actively participating.

She needs to go back to her previous series about child soldiers experiencing trauma: Gregor the Overlander. I think society is finally ready for that story to be told with giant anthropomorphic bats and rats.
I thought there were three books but every few months I hear about Hunger Games: Lamentation of the Sower and Hunger Games: Dusk of the Plaintive Wife
First look at Ralph Fiennes as President Snow in ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.’ Out November 20, 2026.

So I went to a local vendor fair today and ran across a guy who does custom etching/engraving and I happened to have my feder in my car. I will admit the metaphor is a bit more blunt on a sword instead of a guitar.

I know fewer local people on here but if you live in Alabama and in particular are in driving distance to Birmingham, the APT board of directors is meeting to decide whether to cut PBS, if you can make it out on Tuesday to show them how important PBS is to you it would be very helpful.

It wasn't even a trade for magic beans. It was a trade for entirely mundane beans, possibly past their expiration date. Explicitly labeled as such, bargain bin, should've been thrown out weeks ago. The worst beans you've ever seen.
UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.
