Used to hang out on Twitter. Used to travel the world and play concerts in your living rooms.

Still writing, still singing, starting to play live shows again. Stepping into advocacy and organizing for the Alaska music scene, which helped make me.

James Bond supervillains threaten to blow up the world with their big laser unless you pay them a trillion dollars.

Real American supervillains embed themselves in the economy and threaten to cause a depression unless you subsidize their sex robots and the weird chatbots they use to avoid humans.

Heard the story on the radio driving home today and yelled "GO VERA!" at Glacier Highway.
Starbard was nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Preschool Animated Series for an episode called “Thanks-for-giving," that aired last November and follows Molly and her friends as they learn why some Alaska Native people don’t celebrate Thanksgiving.

Fun fact: in the original Wizard of Oz, the Emerald City wasn't actually emerald. The Wizard just made everyone wear green spectacles so it looked like it 😎

Oh, FFS. If you can’t be bothered to ask your “loved ones” what they want, just give them cash. It’s just as impersonal as asking an algorithm, but with the added benefit of not needing to burn down an acre of forest to do it.

Getting real tired of companies with business plans that read like a supervillain scheme.
FCC should stop this before launch

“Give us 4 minutes. If everyone hates it, we can turn it off,” they say, but once up there, would they?

Beaming a 'sun spotlight' anywhere on earth has nasty military applications & unknown (bad) effects on wildlife, just to boost #solar energy output further 🤔

once people get past the mental hurdle of thinking Everything Must Be Profitable, we can start asking what people actually NEED, what would improve lives, even if it loses money.

that's where government stepping in can be good. It's not that complicated.
Given the closure of the Carrs in Anchorage, seems like something that city should be considering. After all, the city went so far as to fund buses to other supermarkets for local residents. #Alaska
Turns out Mamdani's controversial proposal for government-run supermarkets isn't so novel. Other cities also are toying with the idea to bring fresh, affordable food to communities that do not have easy access to it. Good WSJ read (gift link)
