The actor Michael Sheen used all his money to start a fake debt collecting business, buy 900 people in Wales's debt, and excused it. If Musk bought ALL $194 billion in medical debt in the U.S. and excused it in the same way, he'd still be the world's riches man by hundreds of billions of dollars.

Today is Day 50 of the Palestine prisoners’ hunger strike.

This Labour government must release all remand prisoners on bail immediately.

If they die, more blood will be on the hands of David Lammy and Keir Starmer.

the biggest difference being that Leo Varadkar was mainly engaged in a crass PR spectacle with few long-term effects, while Jim O'Callaghan is not just scapegoating migrants but trying to reshape the law in ways that deny and degrade human rights for everyone. he's a danger

in 2017, as Enda Kenny approached fifteen years as leader of Fine Gael, Leo Varadkar positioned himself for the leadership by attacking people on welfare

in 2025, as Micheál Martin approaches fifteen years as leader of Fianna Fáil, Jim O'Callaghan is doing the same with migrants

"Away in" is just the English translation of "Pret."
Time for my annual close-reading-the-carol-sheet question: what does the "Away" in "Away in a Manger" actually mean?

Whatever your views on Peter Lawell, the fact someone has had to leave Celtic because of abuse and threats is a dark day for the club.

That's hun behaviour.

After 10+ years of people fighting against it, this government is pushing through this dystopian CETA legislation.

Corporations can and will sue the state for interfering with their profits - for example increasing the minimum wage, against fracking bans, etc.

This is incredibly undemocratic.

In memory of him and the thousands of beautiful Palestinians whose lives were stolen by the apartheid state, we keep fighting for freedom, justice and equality for Palestine. Let's it be a tale..

Sinn Féin have literally taken more seats than Fine Gael at both of the last elections.
During a heated exchange in the Dáil during Leaders' Questions today, Simon Harris accused Sinn Féin of being "hypocrites".

"People see through it, and that's why you are sitting over there rather than being in government," he told Pearse Doherty.

If you wanted to "clean up" social media, you could start by enforcing laws and regulations governing tech platforms. That would be messy, awkward, and might achieve something.

No, instead, this government is introducing new laws to monitor what citizens say and do online.

Britain never did grow out of oppressing the Irish because the country generally feels like it *should* own us regardless of all that pesky war of independence stuff
This is madness.

The 34-year-old Irish author says: “The disappearance of my work from bookshops would mark a truly extreme incursion by the state into the realm of artistic expression.”
