I should just add, for the record: Reiner was worth 1000 Kirks. He was a creative dynamo, a deeply decent human being, a force for philanthropy & pro-social values. Kirk was a small-minded, resentful, thumb-faced grifter who made the world worse by spreading his resentments.

Some pundits claim replacing climate with affordability messages is the way for Dems to win. But climate is driving unaffordability (like with home insurance), voters trust Dems on climate, & solution exist that center people not CEOs. That’s a layup. @newrepublic.com

Here’s the Climate Message That Can Help Democrats Win Big in 2026
Rising home insurance costs are making life unaffordable for both homeowners and renters. Robust climate policy and public disaster insurance could save many households’ finances.

I want to emphasize this, and note that I have been saying it consistently for over 10 years now: *everything* about Trump is immediately visible. Everything. There's no there there, no depth, nothing hidden, no secrets. He's shallow as a puddle. It's all right there, immediate, obvious, glaring.

As sa life long Spurs fan and Trump hater I welcome y'all.
Look all I'm saying is that it's gonna make the WH so fucking mad if the Spurs win the championship because the star of the team is French and a significant portion of their fanbase is Latino. If you're looking for a team to root for strictly on the basis of schadenfreude you can do worse than SA

Very little respect for the elected leaders who show no leadership while in Congress right now and Luke to throw rocks and hide their hands. Cowardly.

Just a reminder that this mfer was not born here and yet is singling out American citizens who are black and brown as a problem becuase they get to vote. White supremacy is THE reason we're where we are in this country and until we deal with it we'll never actually progress.

Sharing this again because its time sensitive and IMPORTANT! If you are going to the @agu.org meeting, come to our events! I can't stress enough how important I think it is for #agu scientists to be exposed to real environmental justice points of view.
@ucs.org and Louisiana community leaders invite you to join a powerful toxic tour exploring the realities of environmental injustice in the Gulf South.

Amazing bravery here. Proud of the strength and resolve my people show.
On October 10th, 2025, Dayanne was assaulted and kidnapped by masked ICE agents. They gave no reason why.

She is beyond brave for sharing her story and reliving her trauma, in hopes that someone will listen—that there will be change. Do not turn a blind eye to her pain.

Fans of permitting reform say that it will work to renewable energy's advantage. But of course, that's not true if the administration is also *specifically intervening to stop solar development*.
HUGE: In a letter to Congress, more than 140 solar companies detail how the Trump permitting freeze on renewables is worse than imagined and hitting copious projects on private lands

They’re asking Congress to intervene and say “bipartisan permitting reform” won’t help without forcing Trump’s hand
Solar Industry Group Describes Trump’s ‘Complete Moratorium on Permitting’
A letter from the Solar Energy Industries Association asks for Congress’ help to reverse the administration’s effective permitting ban.

I haven't been checking the news as I try to catch up on work and I spend 10 minutes on here and see explicit racism, permitting reform, and Trump pardoning the idiot that Dems supported over Jessica Cisneros twice? Y'all can keep the internet and the news. No thank you.

This is in no way an attempt to dunk on Roberts but if the energy policy space would take viewpoints from the environmental justice space more seriously then there would not have been such a widespread misunderstanding of what the GOP was going to do and why they were serious about the threats.
In my world (energy policy), to a first approximation, *everyone* underestimated how bad Republicans would be this time around.

So my basic question is: has anyone updated their priors? Revised their analytical categories? Learned anything from this? Will do things differently next time? Anyone?

I know there's going to be explicit racism when I click the video and after dealing for a decade plus of this man's bullshit it still infuriates me. I just want to be done with this waste of space.
Trump: "It’s a hellhole right now. And those Somalians should be out of here. They've destroyed our country. And all they do is complain, complain, complain. You have her. She’s always talking about the Constitution provides me with – go back to your own country and figure out your constitution."

Now that my wife's green card arrived in the mail today I finally feel safe to say how absolutely horrendous it was that we had to discuss what to do in this exact scenario when we went into USCIS for an interview.

The plans + contingencies we had to come up with. Not the country I grew up in.
Gut wrenching: “I had to take our baby from my crying wife’s arms,” Mr. Paul, 33, said, recalling the moment that agents said they were arresting his wife, Katie.

Ms. Paul was sent to an immigration detention center with hundreds of other people swept up in the Trump administration’s crackdown.”

big late breaking news: the market monitor for the largest energy grid in the u.s., covering much of the midwest and mid-atlantic, has called to block new data centers connections to the grid, saying current course of growth assures regular blackouts
No more PJM data centers unless they can be reliably served: market monitor
The PJM Interconnection’s market monitor urged the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to rule that large data centers can only come online if the grid operator can still meet reliability metrics.
