Literally just sent some messages on my birding discord to discourage people from driving out because it looks like tonight isn't' going to happen. I hate to be the downer but also would rather people not get their hopes up and end up disappointed.

Probably right. But there are power lobbies that must hate it and they could flex that but haven't? Like the insurance lobby has to hate this move right? I am struggling on finding convincing reasoning for it other than a subset of Dem senators have incredibly bad political instincts.

The GOP has been responsible for the vast majority of pain people feel in this country and voters sent Trunp back to the white house largely because the democrats are no more a functional party than the Republicans are so don't count on them carrying the sole blame.
