Teachers gave up a month's salary to fight for YOUR kids.

Let. That. Sink. In.

Now, they need YOUR support.

She’s a hypocrite and a coward!
Remember when Danielle Smith condemned the "arrogance" of a government for passing laws in a matter of days?

Now she's rammed through a law stripping teachers' charter rights in a single day.

Seems the "democratic process" no longer matters to her now that she's in power.

It means most people are fine with the conditions Albertas's children are forced to endure in order to get some sort of an education. Their teachers tried to get the province to do something, and the UCP responded with "stfu and sit down because we don't care." #ableg
Alberta is the wealthiest province in Confederation, but you'd never know that by looking at the way it funds its public schools and their students. At some point, voters might want to think about what that says — and means — @maxfawcett.bsky.social writes.
Alberta is the richest province in the country — except where it really counts
How does the province with the highest fiscal capacity in the country also have the lowest per-capita funding for students in its public schools? Because it wants it that way

Hey MAGA Voters,

Do you still think this is America First? 💀
Breaking: Trump just banned states from being able to wipe medical debt from Americans’ credit reports.

The Biden-Harris administration had moved to wipe medical debt from credit reports. Now this new rule will keep $220 billion in medical bills on Americans’ records.
True enough. I'm sure their copies are dogeared by now.

I rode the 1 train with Linsey Davis on the way to our ABC News interview yesterday, and talked about how in the wealthiest city in the world we can't simply accept that people have to sleep on the streets or the subways.

It's not a question of resources. It's a question of political will.

I had an appointment for a flu shot at the pharmacy and the pharmacist asked me if I wanted Covid too. Yes!
I didn’t know it was available. I thought it was only from the Alberta government.
I paid $155 and it might have been free if I waited for my appointment in 3 weeks.
FUCK THE UCP

Our Alberta government is broken and corrupt. If this is left to stand, there is nothing Conservatives won’t do. And Canadians and democracy will suffer. Damage will be irreparable. We started this slide towards authoritarianism 6 years ago and it’s picking up speed.
At 2 a.m., the Alberta legislature passed a bill that will force 51,000 teachers back to work, impose a four-year contract and use the notwithstanding clause to stave off a legal challenge and suspend teacher bargaining at the local level. It includes fines for Ts and the ATA if they defy it. #AbLeg
Striking Alberta teachers forced back to work by fast-tracked legislation, notwithstanding clause | CBC News
Bill 2 passed early Tuesday morning after a long night for lawmakers in the provincial legislature. Premier Danielle Smith’s government introduced the legislation the day before.

Would her minions even know what to do without her?
We can dream. Maybe she will be so taken with Saudi Arabia that she never comes back.
Buckle up Alberta. Things are about to get bumpy.
That about sums it up.
So under the government of FrEeDoM activists, anti-vaxers, climate change deniers, separatists & anti-canadians teachers have had their pensions seized & their rights guaranteed by the Canadian charter & the Alberta bill of rights suspended.
Also getting a first look at the bill (we get advanced info under embargo but not the actual text):

The notwithstanding clause would allow the govt to override the Charter, the Alberta Bill of Rights and the Alberta Human Rights Act.

You may recall UCP members pushed hard to bolster the BoR.

It is on their hands! I live in NL and this province had one of the highest vaccine rates, just had an election and PC won the election (barely but they won) so I am just waiting on the anti vax bs to start and he has hired Outhouse (Higgs Anti trans) so you know we are headed down a dark path!
We should thank Pierre Poilievre, Danielle Smith, and the rest of the regressive anti-vaxxers that have placed doubt in vaccines to the point that Canada has lost its Measles elimination status. Congratulations. Blood will be on your hands.

This👇. By allowing the assault weapons ban to expire under their watch, the Republicans have been responsible for thousands of gun deaths, including school children who, as a result of the Republicans’ allegiance to the gun lobby, now have to undergo active shooter drills. It’s unconscionable.

It is the most obvious indication that Smith is an autocrat. If Albertans fail to fight this it will only be the beginning of stripping everyone of their rights.
