A graph of per student funding in Alberta since 2005 in adjusted 2024 dollars.

It shows funding flat around $12,000 per student until a rise in 2016 under the NDP but then dropping precipitously from 2022, currently just over $11,000.

Meanwhile funding for private school students has steadily risen and is now only $1,500/student less than public.

Also marked are Canadian averages in both categories:
Alberta public funding is $3,950 less than the average
Alberta private funding is $5,000 more than the average

If the fed govt has invested that kind of money maybe they need to nationalize that plant. Then call some car:truck makers from overseas and ask them if they’d like a plant to build their products in. Let’s make a deal!

My mom grew up in an area of the prairies that was well treed and had a lot of small sloughs. She always called them Slough Pumpers. So that’s what I’ve always thought they actually were. Think I was in my 40s when I first heard the word Bittern. 🙃

FYI for BC residents, if you want a COVID booster/flu shot, I was able to search in my emails for a previous "Book your next vaccine appointment" from a previous year and click on the link and it just let me schedule my covid vaccine.

Just watched a clip of Poilievre talking about Charlie Kirk, who killed him, and why. And it was not very different from what Trump says: blaming the authoritarian, violent left. It's an ideologically warped distortion field. Pierre may be worried about the leadership review. Or he might believe it.
