WIlson: Please do not raise fares. Do not remove school routes. Do not remove late night, holiday services. Do not make cuts to paratransit, that would be deadly. We will be watching you. Will you prioritize people or profit? #yqrcc

Wilson: This council proposed 7 big moves. One is to increase transit. You've had many people today tell you to reduce fees & you'll see more riders. #yqrcc

Miller on Police budget
Mayor: That passed…
Miller: Transit [in Regina] is 50% the average of what cities are spending. I remember when we had to get buses that were abandoned by Moose Jaw. The only reason it's not worse now is b/c the federal govt provided $$ for transit. #yqrcc

Turnbull: We've heard that in some situations more police officers makes people feel safer, sometimes it doesn't. A thing I hear is people wondering why so many officers have to respond to an incident?

While Trump threatens to tariff 🇨🇦Canadian potash, and we harumph that it won’t work because the 🇺🇸USA needs it so much, he’s also relieved Byelorussian potash from sanctions.

Davies: We work closely w/ transit. Our downtown teams are checking in w/ drivers. They will intermittently ride the bus for a while. It is a regular part of their day.
Rashovich: I totally get that. Smaller cities might have less flexibility w/ budgeting. It's totally that. #yqrcc

Rashovich: How do we compare total staff to Sktoon? Population-wise, per capita?
Davies: Their FTEs are 800.7. I don't have breakdown for what that is. Comparatively, in 2023, Regina was at 175 cop to population ratio (per 100k). Sktoon was at 170. #yqrcc

Davies: We've seen decreases in crime severity index. We are still in top 10, unfortunately. But that is the unique challenge we face. Previous boards, we were not funded properly. There was officer burnout. We looked at proper staffing level & identified how many officers we needed. #yqrcc
