Sometimes when people ask me why I’m wearing a mask I say I’m traveling or have some important thing soon and can’t afford to get sick and miss it and that’s pretty much always true but I think it would be nice if it were more normalized to just say “I don’t want to get sick” and leave it at that

Personality cults are the crabs of human social organization. We just keep endlessly producing them, regardless of the context.

48% yes, 19% no, 32% don't know for proportional representation. That's with very little public campaign for PR so far.

Tracks similar results we found a couple of years ago polling various reforms in Wyoming. It's not some wonky thing only nerds get. The concept is intuitive and naturally popular.
Wow! That's a lot higher support level than I expected. And that 32%"don't know" means there's a high ceiling

Concentration camps for the homeless
Under Trump, the draconian future of homelessness policy is coming into focus: mass internment. Utah is building a 16-acre site to detain up to 1,300 homeless people inside locked "accountability centers." This is profoundly alarming.

We should judge a political philosophy by total net value it offers to add if implemented. If your ideology offers benefits for the few, if it requires scapegoating, if it reduces the bounty for all, then your beliefs are garbage.

this is the moderate position
I am a single issue voter and that issue is I want the Republican Party in federal prison.
That rage you feel, as you watch the White House get leveled? That's how we beat Trump. Harness that, refine it, find ways to get other people equally enraged. Get them so mad they can't see straight. None of this kumbaya BS. White-hot, unreasoning anger, that demands the people who did this PAY.

Grid scale batteries are changing our electricity system. Excellent new visual story on batteries in FT today shows just how far this technology has evolved.

Fasten your seatbelts, this is just the beginning.

Trump is now calling up National Guard troops from states to send them into other states.

He’s trying to send California troops into Oregon & Texas troops into Illinois.

This is illegal & threatens to tear apart our country even further.

He is trying to provoke a civil war.

ACS data is far from perfect, but I think it helps illustrate the reality that most "vacant" units are short-term vacancies related to either typical housing market churn, special / seasonal use cases, repairs, etc

70% of vacant units have been empty for less than 1 year

The sub-categories of this "other vacancy" category that most closely approximate a long-term, chronically vacated unit together comprise about 1.4 million units (or 1% of all "vacant" units nationwide)

But keep in mind that many of these are not in good condition

he was instrumental in getting trump to pardon war criminals during trump’s first term and is participating in war crimes at the moment. i bet if you pushed him just a little bit he’d tell you that his much vaunted “warrior mindset” just means a willingness to kill civilians

me, trepidantly: we inherit the legacy of these war crimes, still; strange as it may seem, whether we like it or not it must be said that these were in a meaningful sense "our" war crimes.

MAGA, enthusiastically: these were our war crimes!!!!

We should build more homes near public transit stops. That’s why we introduced & passed SB 79 — more homes, stronger transit systems, less traffic congestion, lower carbon emissions.

It’s a win all around.

You don't want a new civil war.

"Oh, another coward who wants us to work through the system! You just want the status quo!"

If you prefer civil war to the status quo that tells me you have no concept whatsoever of what a war would look like or *what the new post-war status quo would be*
