Having said that: I read the piece and it ultimately feels like the whole umbrage stems from the title alone, which is kinda flimsy. But still, I can see how it’s a conversation worth having
Yeah, but, this isn’t a review? It’s an opinion piece? About how the series misses an opportunity for the same punk and queer representation as its namesake, which is a fair and worthwhile point to bring up?
This is directly related to how pineapple sometimes stings the inside of your mouth if you eat too much of it, btw. Pineapple stings for the same reason it’s often paired with ham.

You, too, are made of meat, and therefore are also susceptible to being tenderized.
i think about this every time i cook
Nah unfortunately and I won’t be making more: on the one hand we’re well past the days when two doses of a Covid vax felt like a finished task, but also I’ve since moved to the UK 🫤
Okay but seriously in 2021 I designed and ordered a bunch of these and put em on instagram like “does anyone want one” and they paid for my PS5
"The wishes of the dead are the wishes of people who do not exist" might be the best explanation for why I thought it was so cool Prince had a vault full of music no one was ever allowed to hear, and then the day after he died I felt almost scarily entitled to get to hear all of it
Anyway: it sounds like you and your friends just have different answers to “when does an Author become a Historical Figure,” sounds like their answer is “as soon as the body’s cold” and if I’m being honest w/myself that might be where I land on the spectrum too
IIRC This is why Terry Pratchett had his hard drive(s?) ceremoniously destroyed immediately after his death. I go back and forth as to whether that level of commitment should be required for a dead author’s wishes to be adhered to
I think a crux of this argument is: at what point does an author also become a historical figure, and as such when does their body of work also become a historical document?

At Monticello you can buy a whole handsomely bound set of Jefferson’s personal correspondence. Is that unethical as well?
I had my first ever persimmon this week. My assessment: what if tomato, but mango
Why the hell is Ashley Padilla STILL a Featured cast member, don’t we have enough injustices to worry about already
I have been a fan of and advocate for unapologetic bombast for years. Years? Nay, decades. My record will bear this out.

So why the hell didn't any of you tell me about Coheed and Cambria
Say what you want about Star Trek: The Motion Picture it was an absolute master class in “how do we make this orifice not look like a butthole”
Never have I more desired to carry someone around the room on my shoulders, that was beautiful 🤩
The Land Before Time at least had the common decency to go direct to vhs with all their weird Great Valley fanfiction or whatever the hell was going on there
…and today’s the day I learned he always wears glasses because he has wee lil Milhouse Van Houten eyes, yikes 🫤
Energy bills are higher than ever and, in fact, the highest in the entire world. That is world-beating growth from Sir Keir. Let's give him a round of applause. 👏
I don’t know, is it just me? It feels like, if you’re a person who’s already decided that these views/stances are contradictory, the word “but” gives you permission to keep believing that.

He’s not giving you that opportunity to dismiss what he has to say.

It’s a small thing, but meaningful
So, Mamdani does something here from 0:32 to 1:42 which feels really important and intentional (to me) and it’s something I wish more people did when talking about this:

he connects all of these points with “and” and never once uses the word “but”
Zohran Mamdani calling it a genocide on The View and getting applause.
I got some bad news about Lord of the Rings bro, you ever seen this thing called Meet The Feebles
Legit thought this was some kind of esoteric folk spirit of fertility, out performing his demigodly duties, jizzin upon the wheat fields
"What a silly system." The boy laughed. "Then your head keeps changing its height and you always see things in a different way? Why, when you're fifteen things won't look at all the way they did when you were ten, and at twenty everything will change again."

sometimes people they ask me Langdon they say how do you endure the bleakness of days and hard silences of night, the gaps in thought where god should speak but does not and I’m like are you stupid. I feel very bad. that’s what I do. how dumb are you. I’m alive and I feel bad. come on
I just remember firing up the movie, their names popping up, and being like “what this one too, damn boys take a break”
An easy Reznor/Ross to miss is “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem”, if that one hasn’t made it into the roster yet, it’s heckin fun
Happy 10yr anniversary to Every Open Eye: here’s me in 2021, mere days before moving to London, on the way to sell my car, and realising on the drive there that this would be the last time for the foreseeable future I’d have a semi-isolated room with a decent sound system all to myself
Jfc I still can’t believe I ended up moots with someone this cool 🤯
