Hurricane Melissa has devastated communities across the Caribbean, including Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti, the Dominican Republic and beyond bringing flooding, storm surge and winds.

We've distributed relief items to families in the Dominican Republic and stand ready to assist further.

Also, there should be volume smoothing. So if you set your volume to 7, then it will always be at 7, even when the adverts come on.

This is absolutely it. Advertising is aspirational. Most people aspire to live in a relaxed, open, mixed society. Advertisers research this methodically. This is why we see mixed families in adverts.

tbh the fetishisation of 'othered' people is what drives our presence in the advertising; e.g. mixed families are associated with progress, modernity and 'cool', and are strategically placed to look on subconsciously, or even consciously, as aspirational. all this claptrap to sell frozen chips lol

My photo shows a Roman-era ribbed mosaic glass bowl standing on a glass shelf in a display case at the V&A Museum. The bowl is hemispherical with vertical ribs and an applied pedestal foot. The glass itself is composed of various combinations of red, white, blue, green and yellow stripes which resemble ribbons or tiny flags. Height 11.5 cm, width 15.5 cm. Other colourful glass pieces are visible in the background.
