February 28, 2025. A shameful day for America. I’m angry, embarrassed, and disgusted beyond words. I stand with Ukraine. 🇺🇦

The networks took the much smaller Tea Party movement so seriously they broadcast a Tea Party rebuttal to Obama’s 2011 SOTU on top of the normal GOP one.
Reminder: We spent YEARS reading thousands and thousands of articles on the Tea Party and how it was a true expression of the American people's will, and it never mounted anything nearly as big as Saturday's No Kings rallies. [1/3]

This "No Kings" song from Jesse Welles is giving me Dylanesque vibes and flashbacks to earlier eras of protests for peace and civil rights and women's rights. Those led to big things. This is starting to feel big, too. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXWD...

another amazing loreflash from the inimitable kendzior! #Hero
Inventing Antifa
In 2005, the Uzbek government invented a group called “Akromiya” to justify massacring protesters. Now I worry the US government will do the same.

In 2005, I wrote an article called "Inventing Akromiya" about how the government of Uzbekistan made up a group called Akromiya to justify a massacre of civilian protesters.

Twenty years later, the US is more like Uzbekistan, and I wrote "Inventing Antifa": sarahkendzior.substack.com/p/inventing-...

So dangerous that they must be blown into small pieces rather than arrested … unless they are actually captured in which case they may go home with a warning. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/18/u...
It’s easy to forget that our Founding Fathers were all immigrants. Ben Franklin was an honorable Englishman—until he wasn’t.
I'm going to talk about the Hutchinson Letters Affair, because it's an important episode that's not often taught in schools, and I think it's instructive.

Find a No Kings protest Saturday and go!

Don't worry that you've never been to a protest before. Don't worry about being dressed wrong or looking out of place. Don't worry that you don't agree about everything -- or even about much -- with lots of people at the protest.

@sanders.senate.gov: "No, Speaker Johnson, the #NoKings Rally on October 18th is not a 'hate America' rally. ... It’s a rally of millions of people who believe in American freedom and are not going to allow you and President Trump to turn us into an authoritarian country."

Pritzker’s observation that Trump is being manipulated by his own staff is quite savvy. Not in a political way but in the sense that our Federal leadership has been corrupted. Trumps descriptions of Chicago and Portland are so off base…someone is feeding him lies. Which he repeats.

Thanks.
FTR, the very first time I had to call NCIS (I was working for the Navy) and then the FBI because of threats from Trumpers was almost ten years ago. I also had to fight being fired; I told my family, including my young daughter, that I might be unemployed soon.

But I am glad you are resisting. Thank you.

There are days when it can feel like it’s already over and the bad guys won. That’s how they want us to feel. But it isn’t. Not by a long shot. Let’s not make it easy for them.

ICE admits that up to 50% of arrests in its Chicago raids are "collateral.” These aren't statistics. They are parents taken from their children, neighbors taken from our communities. When does a "collateral" U.S. citizen child's trauma matter? This isn't law enforcement; it's a campaign of terror.

Wow. This really says it all.
Jeffries: In that Oval Office meeting, which lasted over an hour, the amount of time spent talking about health insurance for undocumented immigrants was less than 10 seconds. You know why? Because they know it’s a lie. They didn’t even bother to bring it up—because the cameras weren’t rolling.

Lots of crim legal reformers have been arguing—correctly—that ICE’s behavior that is drawing outrage isn’t *that* much different from lots of routine police actions.

But I think this is. Even the bigger gang raids have not indulged in this magnitude of wanton indiscriminate collective punishment.
Terrorizing and wrecking an entire 150-unit apartment building--hundreds of people, mostly legal or citizens--to detain 37 people. This should be a much more massive story.
“It was heartbreaking to watch,” said Watson. “Even if you’re not a mother, seeing kids coming out buck naked and taken from their mothers, it was horrible.”…

“Stuff was everywhere…people’s birth certificates, and papers thrown all over. Water was leaking into the hallway. It was wicked crazy.”

If Trump "determined" the moon was made of green cheese, would the NYT give it a headline this stenographic? I'm glad they broke this story (gift link) but it is such an outrageous "determination" it ought to be treated as such AT THE TOP. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/02/u...

“ABC7 spoke to Pertissue Fisher, a woman who lives in the building. She said ICE agents took everyone in the building, including her, and asked questions later….’They was bringing the kids down, too, had them zip tied to each other.’”

It can’t happen here, you say. But it is happening.
