Library cryptid disguised as a Director. historian, textile artist, craft dabbler.

Go read a book - you really need to do so. Read a lot of books - learn something outside of your confirmation bias.

The crows demand it. And go outside.
Dear Santa,

You didn't get me the thesaurus I asked for and now I'm mad. You made me really mad. I'm mad at you.

I named my fists Great Expectations - because they are the best of times, and the worst of times.
I named my fists Pride and Prejudice, because it is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of two fists must be in want of whupping ass
I named my fists Common and Sense because I'm about to bring the Paine

UGH.

Have a bug.

Taking a meds in hopes I can stay out of a certain room for longer periods of time than 15 minutes, and if not, I'll call in a sub. If that doesn't work, I will lock up early and go home.

Yay holiday crud - and I didn't go anywhere not local!

How come when you are NOT looking for old cookie cutters, they are everywhere.

When you want to buy some, you cannot find them in any antique mall or thrift store.

So basically, anyone that's on their list are the people you SHOULD be reading and watching.
A critical step for an authoritarian regime.
The White House just launched a "Media Bias" tracker to supposedly monitor fake news. It's really a hit list of reporters & outlets covering issues in ways Trump & the admin dislike. Flagrant attack on independent thought, freedom of the press & free speech. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Microscale world - do NOT put red wine VINEGAR in your lamb stew that calls for red wine.

I was able to salvage it, but may have lost some of the flavor from browning the meat and onions cause I scooped out all the ingredients and rinsed them, and start over on the broth - but we will see.

Who thought up this winter thing?

I know, I know - necessary to help things grow in the spring, kill off bugs, etc, but I'm already over it and it's not Christmas yet.

I think it was pulling buckets of water from the creek to fill the chicken waterers that did it for me today.

So I see in the senility watch, he's called yet another reporter names in anger when he cannot come up with the answer.

What next, is he going to start punching them? Hitting and irrational anger are common dementia signs.

Friend Dog was truly intrigued this morning as I rolled out pie crust for the pumpkin pies.

There will be a lot of things this holiday season she has never seen before; I hope she handles it all well.

A very dark turn from "The Nutcracker", the story of twins born on a Christmas day and cursed by their wizardly godfather. Travels to a different land with the help of a nutcracker, vengeance, darkness, set in pre- revolution Russia.

Good kinda wins.

A dark fairytale fun read. 10/10. #booksky 💙📚

So surprise chicken was around again all day; she has definitely chosen Dorian as her rooster of choice, and runs away from both Moto and Zippie. (I would too if I were a hen, they're horndogs).

Getting better about skittish around humans.

But still didn't go in the coop.

So...

Surprise chicken is back again today.

It's supposed to get very cold Wednesday night; hopefully she will decide to go into the coop this evening or tomorrow evening.

If not, I may run and grab a bale of straw and set her up a box she can get into.

My goal is to have a feather tree like this someday; I've wanted one since 2002.

How a friend decorates hers.

This is the morning for surprises- today, a surprise chicken.

There she was, in the middle of the coops area. I didn't think she looked like one of ours, but I did a headcount before letting them out anyway.

I'll check with an elderly neighbor to see if it might be hers.

If not, new chicken.

I may have gotten a little carried away with how many books I did for this year's @npr.org Books We Love list for 2025. I CARE NOT! #kidlit 📚👍 apps.npr.org/best-books/#...

Nice idea, especially those needing volunteer time for scholarship programs.
Cool holiday idea
The library I worked at did this with teens volunteering as the wrapping staff. We'd provide the paper and the space, and people could bring their stuff in and get it wrapped by them. The teens got badly needed volunteer hours. Win-win-win!

Once again - a book, so recently published that you're going to have to sit and await the next book dropping.

Political intrigue, a murder in the midst of it, the common folk becoming integral to the story - the difference? They're all immortals, and mortals are a myth- or are they?

9/10 📚💙

How embarrassing.

Administration sources were all-in on this Russian wishlist until it was revealed that it was an *actual* Russian wishlist and not just the worst possible peace plan for Ukraine.

Yeah, this week's It's Storytime, Swarm X1048 - Ethological Field Report: Canis Lupus Familiaris, '6'" by F.E. Choe, is a beautiful story that sneaks up, quietly slips its hand around your heart, and squeezes it until you think it's going to break.

I love that so many listeners love it, too.

So food stamps are back on, but here's an indicator how bad it is and how low the rates are - you know I'm very rural, small town - we're up to two families a day coming to the tiny library pantry, most of them food stamp recipients, most elderly.

Pay attention to that.
