Library cryptid disguised as a Director. historian, textile artist, craft dabbler.

Go read a book - you really need to do so. Read a lot of books - learn something outside of your confirmation bias.

The crows demand it. And go outside.
So surprise chicken was around again all day; she has definitely chosen Dorian as her rooster of choice, and runs away from both Moto and Zippie. (I would too if I were a hen, they're horndogs).

Getting better about skittish around humans.

But still didn't go in the coop.

So...

Surprise chicken is back again today.

It's supposed to get very cold Wednesday night; hopefully she will decide to go into the coop this evening or tomorrow evening.

If not, I may run and grab a bale of straw and set her up a box she can get into.

My goal is to have a feather tree like this someday; I've wanted one since 2002.

How a friend decorates hers.

This is the morning for surprises- today, a surprise chicken.

There she was, in the middle of the coops area. I didn't think she looked like one of ours, but I did a headcount before letting them out anyway.

I'll check with an elderly neighbor to see if it might be hers.

If not, new chicken.

Nice idea, especially those needing volunteer time for scholarship programs.
Cool holiday idea
The library I worked at did this with teens volunteering as the wrapping staff. We'd provide the paper and the space, and people could bring their stuff in and get it wrapped by them. The teens got badly needed volunteer hours. Win-win-win!

Once again - a book, so recently published that you're going to have to sit and await the next book dropping.

Political intrigue, a murder in the midst of it, the common folk becoming integral to the story - the difference? They're all immortals, and mortals are a myth- or are they?

9/10 📚💙

How embarrassing.

Administration sources were all-in on this Russian wishlist until it was revealed that it was an *actual* Russian wishlist and not just the worst possible peace plan for Ukraine.

Yeah, this week's It's Storytime, Swarm X1048 - Ethological Field Report: Canis Lupus Familiaris, '6'" by F.E. Choe, is a beautiful story that sneaks up, quietly slips its hand around your heart, and squeezes it until you think it's going to break.

I love that so many listeners love it, too.

So food stamps are back on, but here's an indicator how bad it is and how low the rates are - you know I'm very rural, small town - we're up to two families a day coming to the tiny library pantry, most of them food stamp recipients, most elderly.

Pay attention to that.

A friend asked the other day for a picture of a moment when you were truly happy.

I had to think about it, and realized at my moments of true happiness, I'm not taking pictures, I'm in the moment, experiencing it.

So while I have pictures of when I'm happy -t he true happiness moments? in my head.

No one should gloss over how appalling this is. A president who feels this comfortable demeaning women, and so many others, is nothing short of embarrassing and shameful.
