If you saw the sandstorm scene in Lazarus: Fallen #6 and are not sure how I created the balloon effects, I wrote out a tutorial for @rogue151.bsky.social in the thread below. Don't click if you don't want to know how I pull a rabbit out of a hat -- it's not that exciting once you see the technique.
Random comics thing that makes me happy: I’m rereading last week’s Lazarus and I love what I’m guessing @airy.bsky.social did with the speech bubbles here. It conveys in such a fun what the characters trying to talk and it getting jumbled in a sandstorm.

Duel is on Prime in the UK. If you’ve never seen it and love Jaws, I highly recommend it! Spielberg’s talents are undeniable.

Clash of the Comics is bonkers. But a laugh and that’s the point. Seemingly everyone is in it!

Hey all, do I have any UK based concept artists following me (or who knows anyone) who would be up for a long term 22 month contract working on Dragonwilds at Jagex? Remote with a very occasional day in office in Cambridge. Development experience and fantasy genre work is a must. Mid level role.

A friend just returned from Antarctica, including a trip to Damoy Hut, a former British Antarctic Survey shelter that's preserved as a heritage site. And what were polar scientists reading in the 80s to pass time during a blizzard? Why, the Thrill Power of @2000ad.bsky.social of course!

I sat down with the bold Declan Shalvey over the weekend to have a chat about writing my first story for Marvel, our shared love of Daredevil, and my advice for up-and-coming writers!

Hey everyone!

Looking to fill some gaps in my schedule until the end of the year. Both comics (short stories, possibly single issues) and covers/pin-ups. Some samples below! And more in my portfolio here:

People *do* judge books by covers.
I’m begging novel writers to hire an artist for their covers. At least someone who can do graphic design at a minimum. I see the worst book covers on here everyday and you’re all doing such a disservice to yourself to put in the effort to write a whole book only to turn people away with a bad cover.

Comics artists who work with writers, I am doing a class for young comics writers and I would like to include some ANONYMOUS quotes from artists about things they hate getting in scripts. More "17-panel pages and cross dialogue" than "horses and bicycles". My DMS are open. SECRECY ASSURED.

Writers — the ones you know and love, the ones you think of as successful — have sources of income outside that book you read. Most of us are a half-step ahead of the landlord at best, and struggling to maintain health insurance. We figure out other ways to make a buck.
I wrote 12 novels.
Hit #2 on the NYT bestseller list.
Optioned three works for film and TV.
Have close to 20 short fiction works in anthos.
I have 35,000 BSky followers.

Have you seen my jewelry shop that keeps my lights on.

I usually don't care but it really bugs me they're calling it Jumanji 3 as that implies the *first* first one isn't canon and that film rips!

Every comic collector has got the same text this weekend; a jovial but still semi-genuine question about if they own a mint copy of Action Comics #1.
