Your ability to eat should not depend on your productivity

Your ability to get healthcare should not depend on your productivity

Your ability to get housing should not depend on your productivity

Saying “be more productive!” To those who are struggling devalues human life.

It aids fascism.

I started using a Linux-based OS in 1996. I've installed Slackware from floppies. I was VP of my LUG in college. I compiled my own kernel for years. I've run Linux on Sparc, x86, amd64, PowerPC, and multiple flavors of ARM.

Telling me to "Run Linux" solves zero of my computing problems. Thanks.

This is Dumbo, Mela, Peaches, and Chiquis. They are a championship napping team. Their built-in sleep masks give them that competitive edge. 13/10 for all (TT: brokeboilopez)

I'm not convinced 18 year-olds are old enough to vote, let alone anyone younger. But then, I'm not convinced democracy works...

I'm not ADHD, but I do this. However, I do sort and process them a few times a year.

Computers used to scream every time they connected to the Internet. They knew. They tried to warn us. We did not listen.

Paul Dano as Bond.
James Cameron directing.
Four Tet to do the theme.
Grace Jones as the next Bond.
John Waters directing.
Portishead do the theme.

Would see. What’s yours?

I wish people would stop describing things that are indisputably provable as a matter of fact as "controversial." People not liking a fact doesn't mean the fact is controversial. Reality is not malleable around our beliefs and it shouldn't be. We need to stop acting like it is.

This nostalgia is particularly misplaced. People remember hundreds of workers on lines operating everything from spot welders to sewing machines from fifty years ago.

THAT NO LONGER HAPPENS.

Manufacturing has completely changed, and is now almost all automatic.

Every time I hear the Spice Girls on the radio I'm reminded of just how awful their music and lyrics were. Truly a lowering of the bar.

Hi,

I’ve been a software developer for 30 years, including in very large IT projects.

Everything about “DOGE” and a bunch of Hitlerjugend walking into a data center and optimizing a code base and data grown over 70 years in a few days is complete bullshit on its nose.

Sincerely,
Thomas

Here’s the prescient Raymond Chandler on the winds that are driving LA’s fires:
