2025 was heat and drought. 2024 was incessant rain

Three of the five worst British harvests on record have now occurred since 2020

Some farmers are asking whether the growing impacts of the climate crisis are making it too financially risky to sow their crops

I get so annoyed by this kind of thinking by people who think it's useless to take individual action too - if you are in the top 10%of the richest people in the world YOU ARE THE SYSTEM and you have the resources and your actions matter, and you will actually make your own life better
If Ireland's emissions are "too small to matter" then I might as well evade my taxes and eat doughnuts for lunch.

Read my latest column about the laziest excuse in the climate debate:

This is a good article about the relentless onslaught of climate disinformation that distorts US and global politics.

I just wish it acknowledged that disinformation is sticky precisely because it often resonates w the speech of “our side.”

As @glenpeters.bsky.social says, we're way off target for any 1.5°C scenario.

To see how far off, each of the red/green bars represents the decrease in CO₂ emissions during COVID. Even if we achieved that from now until the end of 2030, we would still miss our 1.5°C target by a significant margin.

ICE vehicles waste a whopping 80% of the energy in their fuel. Electric vehicles are propelled by entirely different mechanisms. Energy enters the vehicle as electricity, which directly powers the drivetrain: EVs need not convert one form of energy to another resulting in much higher efficiency.
