Friends, help me out! Are there any newer Indigenous romance authors that I might not know about (especially in the indie zone), or heck, any veteran authors with tribal heritage that I might have just missed?
I grew up in a 1760s house and just moved into a 2003 house and I’m loving the central air as opposed to box heaters. But there are slightly older roads in this development (late 90s/2000-2002) and even those don’t have central air - lots of window AC units still
They don't do Halloween so I guess Christmas is their bread and butter.
Disappointing to see hist rom author Kate Bateman using Gen AI in her marketing...
Screen shot of an IG promo - the promo uses a picture of two women with light skin and dark wavy hair in updos. The women are in 19th century attire. They have the distinctive markers of having been created with Gen AI - in particular the up turned noses. On the right hand side of the image is a picture of Kate's latest paperback - "Road Trip with a Rogue" and the ad is for readers to win a kindle paperwhite, a $100 gift card, and 27 paperbacks.

I haven't read it yet but I do understand from other reviewers that the mustache on the cover is some false advertising as the MMC is never described as having one in the book (unless something changed between ARC and final publication). Am Looking forward to reading it despite that!

This is Rosie. She doesn't have a bad angle, but prefers this one because it makes her look tall. 12/10 (IG: whippyrosie)
a gray whippet puppy with white on her paws, tummy, and snoot and blue eyes sits in a living room with a gray couch behind her. she's giving us an innocent expression and the teensiest hint of a blep with her pink tongue. we're looking up at her from a low angle, so it seems as if she's towering over us.
I feel like they need to do more to advertise this new "Sunday night mystery" thing. A lot of people aren't paying that close of attention to understand what the individual movie promos means overall. My aunt who watches all the new Saturday night movies had no idea about the mysteries on Sunday.

That makes me so sad - I miss my bengal all the time. He was the greatest. It felt like I got a cat/dog hybrid. Drove everyone nuts but if you ask he's still the best cat we've had. I wanted another but couldn't justify $1500 when there are so many cats at the shelter. (He was 1/3 the $ back in '07)
Setting aside that Gillette Stadium is nearly a half hour outside of Boston, are Robert and 47 fighting? Did they break up after the whole N95 flight deal back in 2020? I assumed they were on good standing after 47 appointed RK's new wife to the Kennedy Center board...

Spotify is running ICE recruitment ads. I ditched it awhile ago for other political reasons, but this might tip your hand.

Thanks for the heads up @chuckwendig.bsky.social.

I haven’t been on here much because social media in the hellscape that is late stage capitalism veering into fascism is — SURPRISE! — terrible for my mental health, but I wanted to share that my books are open for bookish social media marketing strategy consults, and copy/line editing.
I think if someone wants to sext with a robot on ChatGPT, their mental health is very much in doubt. But also - how are they differentiating between someone with ‘serious mental health issues “ and someone without? Oh that’s right. They won’t be.
Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

To clarify, ORR is the parent agency for all detention facilities that hold unaccompanied immigrant kids in the US, separate from their refugee work. Trump changed the rules for families to get their kids out of detention, making it nearly impossible, so this family is in trouble. This is awful.
A mom in Houston reported her 15-year-old son with autism missing. She spent 6 days terrified, searching for him. The whole time, Houston police knew exactly where he was since they helped ICE place him in a refugee facility.

This is beyond cruel.

But also it really starts to lend support to the "he isn't physically well and is swiftly deteriorating" - like being the age he is isn't enough to trigger that much constant thoughts on heaven and hell.
A bunch of my others were already cited so I will go w/ what may be cliche - but Hakuna Matata. And outside of the obvious entries of Part of Your World & Kiss the Girl, I'd like to enter in "Poor Unfortunate Souls" and Les Poissons which I still frequently get stuck in my head when cooking shrimp.
Once again my time as come for: Don Bluth was out there just f*cking up our (late 80s, early 90s) childhoods like an emotional steamroller
