i don't think this is even a real statistical anomaly anymore. it seems like there's someone in the crowd at every mass shooting who has been through it before. this doesn't have to be our shared cultural experience.

Writers who use genAI for illustrations are class traitors. We all have to fight this beast TOGETHER. We are not just trying to save SOME of our livelihoods.
Self-published authors are unfortunately very rapidly becoming my most-blocked demographic on here due entirely to the rampant use of hideous AI generated book covers
Just in case it wasn't clear: If I click on your profile and see that you've used AI to make something, you get blocked.

Blair Witch.

Opening night.

Little art house in middle-of-nowhere Ohio, surrounded by forest. No buzz or press. Just the stories they'd brilliantly "planted" as real reports. No film poster. No marquee.

Just 200 of the Witch's stick figures hanging in the lobby.

I was scared OUT OF MY MIND.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

America's Most Gothic by Hieber & Janes explores how our chilling tropes are ripped straight from our forgotten, unquiet history. It makes you rethink horror's attraction.

Meet my current side project, a short story with comps of The Magnus Archives, Ethel Cain’s “Inbred,” and the Biblical lore of Babylon the Great. It's an updated, more eldritch version of an unfinished short I started last year that has been on my mind every time I try to write something short.

Reviews and also tell someone in your life who isn’t in online spaces about our books. So many people who read are not online reading reviews. Spread the word anyway you can, for free.
"I can't afford to support my favorite author right now, I—"

Reviews.

Reviews are free AND they are a gift to authors that can keep on giving (i.e., exposure, marketing, algo boosts, etc.)

Please, give the gift of reviews to your authors this holiday season. It really can make a difference!
