This is my best friend and emotional support cat, Ella, who takes her job very seriously. Part of my doctor's treatment plan for me is more time outside, and Ella helps by insisting on a daily walk.

So I have my first mono astro cooled camera. I was able to pick it up used from a club member. So now a whole new adventure begins. My first night out I targeted IC 1848 Soul Nebula. In post I created two versions: SHO and HOO. Lots to learn. Details in alt text #astrophotography #colorado

The IC 1848 Soul Nebula, a star-forming region, is shown in a false-color SHO (Sulfur, Hydrogen, Oxygen) narrowband image, with a vibrant red/orange region surrounding a green and blue inner area, highlighting ionized gas clouds. Camera was ASI1600mm and the scope was WO z73. Captured 10 minute subs of Ha, SII, and OIII. Total stack was 7.4 hrs. Post processed in Astro Pixel Processor and Photoshop.

Same image shown in HOO color palette which shows mostly the hydrogen areas and the pink/purple area is the area of Oxygen. Camera was ASI1600mm and the scope was WO z73. Captured 10 minute subs of Ha, SII, and OIII. Total stack was 7.4 hrs. Post processed in Astro Pixel Processor and Photoshop.

Happy #Caturday! Looking at old cat pics, found this one of my Leo, soundly sleeping in my Grandfather Bob’s old yellow leather chair that I inherited back in the 90’s. The chair was given to him from his dad, Great Grandad Earl. We have pics of them also sleeping soundly in that chair. Spellbound!

This is my dream tropical bungalow, complete with thatched roof and steps leading somewhere quiet. Painted this summer- 12”x12” acrylic on canvas. Built around a Brown-eyed Susan flower, shanty soaks in the last warm rays of evening sun.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Gannets. These are Northern Gannets (Morus bassanus) on the Bass Rock off the East Coast of Scotland. Colony impacted by highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). Down by 25-30%. More information in ALT. #Birds 🪶 #Photography #Nikon @seabirdcentre.bsky.social

Gannets launching themselves from the cliffs of the Bass Rock to go fishing. Landing on return is a bit less elegant. More of a crash landing.

Note the bird in the centre of this trio. Gannets that have survived a highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) infection have a permanent eye colour change, with their usually pale blue irises turning black or mottled. This change is a visible marker of recovery and suggests the birds are developing immunity to the virus. It is also proving to be a useful, non-invasive tool for scientists to monitor the effects of the disease on wild populations.

Gannets mate for life returning each year to the same nesting spot. They have one chick, called a guga. So recovery will inevitably be slow but at least there is immunity to HPAI building within the population.

We recently attended a secret concert in the library of the historic Stimson-Green Mansion. It was lovely to listen to music in such an intimate setting, seated near the fireplace. We really enjoyed touring the mansion after the show. #BlueSkyArtShow #Warmth #Photography #EastCoastKin #Seattle
