Mario Party contains an obscure "underwhelming victory" scenario. Normally, the winner is celebrated with a special cutscene and declared Superstar. However, if no stars were obtained, no cutscene plays and all the winner gets is text saying "YOU ARE WINNER" before the game ends.

Bad news. The scanlation group that was doing a manga you like dropped it.
Good news. Another group picked it up.
Tragedy. They're rendering all of the names differently including switching every single L and R.

Reminder to drop positive reviews for games you like to counterbalance the world's worst people
We had an Overwhelmingly Positive score on Steam, then these two reviews rolled in

Why does Valve allow this?

For a time, windows defender kept nagging me because I had netcat installed. You know, the (very useful) command-line tool that does nothing but transmit and receive given data over the network. Completely benign.

Meanwhile I’ve had actual malware samples on my computer and not a word was said.
*any* infected computer is a net worse for society in any context, so letting more people be infected by inadvertently encouraging disabling the AV or adding exclusions for something that is 100% malicious (but the AV only says is a risk because its a "HackTool") is a terrible move by the industry

and don't get me started on how some AV vendors detect pirated software as its own risk (sometimes overriding actual detections) even for consumers, blurring the lines between "this was flagged for being pirated" vs "this was flagged because the pirated software repacker included a botnet dropper"

what are we doing here man

the anti-malware industry does nothing other than erode consumer trust by flagging open source projects with verifiable builds as "malware" with their ML heuristics

really shouldn't be a game of programming in some lucky hard-to-figure-out way to have people not get big red warnings using anything

Bigger Luke Theory is the perfect satire of "fan theories" existing divorced from textual analysis because it uses all the tools of treating the fiction at face value as a real thing that happened, to reach a conclusion that makes absolutely no fucking sense in any interpretation of the story

this joke plagues transphobes because it’s an incredibly cutting take on what the modern transphobic panic is, a hysterical panic based off of a lie that transness is fake and that there is an intentional effort from the right to prop up this wedge to destroy all LGBTQ rights

this is so funny
There's a post over on Twitter that I've been laughing to myself about. Some right-wing guy is celebrating that a school took down "All-Gender" bathroom signs and replaced them with "Single Occupancy Restroom" signs. And like... it's the same thing, man. You're celebrating a pointless relabeling.
