The issue with Gavin Newsome and supporters is that they see the damage/corruption that Trump and co are doing but don't think that these acts are systematically wrong and should be abolished, but that they think these abuses are fine, just that they are controlled and targeting the wrong people.

One thing I do not miss, as a former professor is the legions of students in intro classes who thought that they could cite the Bible because it is" the greatest book of all time" and would get upset when I pointed out that that was not on the list of approved readings.
